What a beautiful park! I did the Great Allegheny Passage a few years back on bike and remember that train station!

You got me on this one ... I did not know about the peninsula being designated a registered national landmark (in 1973). I also rode the Youghaghany (with a group) and its rapids about 35 to 40 years ago. Fun!

Though not apparent in the winter the Ferncliff Peninsula is home to many species of rare plants. Some reach their northernmost range here due to the microclimate along the river. For this reason the peninsula has permanently been set aside as a natural area with no roads or other development .

Ohio Pyle definitely deserves a visit or 2. It’s one of those places, I’ve spent a lot of time, and not seen it all. I’m still hoping to get there later this year, fingers crossed…

Another state park I have never been too. This looks like the creme de le creme though. You lucked out with no rain lol. I might just drive the 4 or 5 hours to do this trail. I'll watch part 2 shortly.
