This was the first time I fell in love with the Chiron

This isn’t top gear

Torque is not pounds per feet (pounds divided by feet). It is pound feet (pounds times feet), if you use imperial units. In international units, as we prefer in most of the world, it should be Newton meter (Newton times meter).

TG has gotten so lame.

To me, cars like this one are like a road-going Concorde. I can remember being in London some years ago (1990ish) and seeing Concorde flying just a few hundred feet above me. Any thoughts about global warming and what's good for the planet just disappear at the moment, you just go "Wow"!

Having seen this video, the thing that strikes about this car is how complete it is. Everything has obviously been designed and engineered to the nth degree around being able to cope with the car's insane amount of power. It's very far from "stick a 1500 bhp engine in and hope for the best". As Jeremy Clarkson pointed out in his review of Concorde a while back, the same is true of that plane too.

(I have a fantasy sometimes of seeing Greta driving one of these.)

Here's the thing, though:
You've only 4 km. You won't be going at speed for long. Not constant speed.
You'll be accelerating.

And you know what a corner is?
Acceleration.

Put another way : Pop up to the ISS. Sit down for a bit when you get there. Squeeze a tube of orange juice. If you don't look out the window, you'll be bored soon. And going orders of magnitude faster than you have ever gone before. Speed, by itself, isn't much.

It has a button for telling it you're not using 98 O.

One of the quiet little things I see in videos that nobody really talks about :

Watch a "my favourite car whup your Bugatti" video. The driver of Favourite is working to keep the car on track. The exterior footage shows the thing all over the place. The Bug is rock solid; dead straight; nary a waver.

"Look, I went just as fast as you."
Yes, but you couldn't go any faster. I could.
Yes, but you couldn't do it all day. I could.
Yes, but you'll have to have most of your bits bolted back on. I'm fine.

"Yeah, but you weigh so much." Weird. Five minutes ago you said that would be a problem for me.

Unrelated story:
I was a little aware of the Bugs for a while but thought the Veyron not that much of a looker. Then I saw a video. Head To Head - Favourite Car vs. Veyron Going DOWN!!!

The FC was hanging out with its friends making buzzy vroom vroom noises and maybe even a pop pop. After half a minute of "hear my squeals of dominance" the Chiron arrives. "grrrrowwwwllll" Doesn't drive little circles, doesn't beg for dialog. Just moves through the crowd. Like Frank Miller's Batman at a baby goat convention.

"Bzz bzzz!?"
"grrrrrrrrrr...."

The "race" was a classic. You're familiar by now.
FC is off the line spurts a quarter mile ahead. The Bug is still sitting on the start line, all its bits going "Ah jeeze, Kenny, so I have to start spinning. Okay okay. Look, I'm getting up."
A second and a half later the Bug was at the other end of the track and FC was still in the middle.

I still can't believe there's a car like this and you can drive it on public roads. Like they gonna hit Mach 0.5 soon for whatever reason.

Chris Harris is truly the most gifted car presenter ever. These videos are works of art, and that says a lot about his and the production crew's talent.

The look of this car is not to my taste.
In my opinion, the S560 coupe looks nicer.

Great video but truthfully, Chris is nowhere near the trio of Clarkson, Hammond and May when it comes to vivid description of a car and how it feels to drive. So bland.
