I totally agree about the mid-calf cropped pants. They look frumpy! I have long legs and still hate them on me. Ankle crops are okay but being tall I was always self-conscious about pants being too short on me so it is hard for me to embrace doing it deliberately. LOL. P.S. You should have had visuals along with the talking. ☺

People talk irrelevant things... you should definitely dress boring and age yourself so they feel less old next to you ... me myself (35) started to think about this as mom... as 15 years older... but it is a wrong feeling to dress As a xxx. I feel young in my spirit and I am bored of beige wool puli with blue shirt... I just love colours... cant resist :)

i dont limit myself but society does. it's killing me that people, including my mom judge me from what i wear. example: they think it's too sexy and inappropriate for me to wear shorts when i go out. well, it's hot outside. i dont wanna wear long pants. i dont see anything wrong in it but they do. so sad :(

Im loving my high-waisted mid-calf pants but something about it just looks wrong on me. Now I know. I wish I watched this a few weeks ago, before I bought those pants and cut some of my trousers to make them "cropped". Ugh! Mistake indeed.

I feel sick seeing women who try to match! And they screw I tip by pairing two diff weights or textures of fabric that clash! I want to barf! I see it all the time and usually on women who aren’t very sophisticated and I feel assaulted. I know it’s terrible of me to say that but I was raised by people who just has good fashion sense instinctively. You don’t need super expensive ensembles but I do agree with having a few superior pieces you can blend with inexpensive stuff.

thanks so much for the comments on crop pants. Each year I hope they go away! Also, not a fan of skinny or super skinny pants and all these thin tops that require layers. In the South, especially summer, its too hot to layer.

I’ll be 45 this year and I’m new mum. Teenagers copy MY style, not the other way around. Know yourself, and your body, and break those rules, I say!

There are a lot of helpful tips here, but the first and foremost mistake that people make is thinking they're not the right shape/size/age/etc for something. As you said in the beginning, people should wear what they want, when they want.

Mid-calf cropped pants are the most mumsy thing one can wear, especially with a tunic-length top, or boxy, wide T-shirt with “novelty” designs. One might as well wear a sign saying “I’m too old, I give up”. I agree, better lengths are just above or below the knee, or ankle or full-length. Unfortunately, many shops that cater to adult women really push these items. That’s why I buy some fast fashion, it keeps my look fresher and more youthful, I think.
