I may be at fault but it takes a long time to be paid

One other downside to Headway and I learn this the hard way is that they won’t panel you with BCBS if you’ve been independently paneled with them. Not sure why that is the rule.

Can you please make this style of video for using Simple Practice in 2025?

Rates have fallen significantly for UHC because Headway had to renovate their contract. The rates are now about the same as if you were billing on your own.

Beginning Jan.1st 2025 they no longer take Aetna. I lost clients over this.

If I am currently on headway and then begin to credential independently, am I able to transfer my clients to my practice outside of headway?

This is off-topic, but I have been looking for a straightforward road map of how to start a private practice, and I can't find nothing that is straight to the point. Most videos talk about pros and cons, bits, and pieces, but nothing from the first step to the last step where you're in business. If anyone has seen this information somewhere please let me know. Thank you, in advance!😅

It sounds like Matthew uses Simple Practice and Headway. Does that create logistical challenges? I so appreciate being advised not to build a practice entirely around a startup / Headway.

Hey Matthew. Great video. I’ll be on your channel more. I’m an LAC in NJ, pending LPC. Trying to get as much info as humanely possible about private practice as that’s always been my end game!

I haven't gotten a single referral through Headway and it is cumbersome for my record keeping. I do all the records in Therapy Notes but have to duplicate some of the effort through Headway. The only reason I am still with Headway is because I long-time client changed jobs and thus insurance to something more easily done with Headway. I would never make a referral to a colleague to use Headway because in their world there are things I need as a practitioner that they can't be bothered to offer. For example, I do hypnotherapy as well as there is no way to record that in Headway.

Using headway is like working for that company. Do your own billing and credentialing if you want to grow.

As a pre-licensed therapist who will be licensed in October, I want to begin with companies like Headway and Alma. Eventually credentialing on my own, is that difficult to do while being affiliated with these companies? Would there be confusion with billing and things like that? Would headway “reprimand” me for credentialing outside of them?

Look, I'm an LCSW as well and I work full time as a director at an OTP clinic here in NY and part-time private practice. There's a lot of confusion with this Headway/Alma stuff and everyone seems to be making matters much more complicated, as they are spreading themselves between Headway EHR, Simple Practice, Jane, etc. Starting with Headway, then eventually transitioning on their own because of the "horror" stories they read on the internet. If you're going to do PP, get credentialed yourself! Pay the $30 bucks a month for SimplePractice and do it all on your own without the worry that Headway or Alma will either keep your clients when you decide to move, crash, suddenly have reduced rates or what-have-you. I tried Headway briefly and I was not impressed. All it did was waste my time. Out of my 15 clients I was only able to panel 3 through Headway. They didn't take any other insurance company my clients had. Just do the work yourself. It's much more worth it in the long run. Think of the bigger picture, not just what seems like a quick, easy ride. Learn the business. Learn how to negotiate reimbursements with the insurance companies. Anything that requires work is the real deal.

Howdy! I read on reddit that Headway has been changing peoples contact info to their contact info if they are independently paneled on insurance companies that headway contract with. Have you found this to be true? Im brand new and prolly doesn't matter at this point for me but I feel this is bothersome.
Thank you for your videos!!!

not sure this is the right spot, but has anyone had any experience with a Headway sales reps? I got contacted by a recruiter for an opening in sales at headway. I want to see if people have had a negative or postive experience with the sales reps.
