Every freakin register ask if you wanna (No) (10%) or (20%). These business are taking advantage of customers. Tipping servers is something totally different. I dont wanna go thru a drive thru and be asked to Round Up for charity.

Full service restaurant with good server is minimum 20%. If I'm walking up to your counter to order my dinner and you bring it out, maybe 15%. Pouring a cup of overpriced coffee and want an extra dollar? Get outta here. It's not against the law to have a career that actually pays the bills.

As a server at a high end restaurant, if it is less than 20% we believe we did something wrong. I also dont think my restaurant should make my ENTIRE income my tips. There should be some sort of base as well. The restaurants take advantage of servers by paying tyhem $2.17 an hour which comes out to 0$ every paycheck. My income is my tips and I also have to give 45% of my tips to the support staff. So if i make 500$ in tips i only keep around 275. TIP YOUR SERVER NOT YOUR BARISTA

It went from 5-10% to 20-25% or a quarter of the price of the meal then taxes on top of that so you are now paying 150% of the price of the meal no thank you. All for service for the most part by people who act like they are doing you a favor. Now get good service you get a tip, but if you are a restaurant that already adds a bunch of service charges on then no.

I never tip. A few years ago after coming back from Asia I realized how bad the service was in US. How much more they got paid and how horrible the experience was in comparison. Now I never tip but am a frequent customer and I can tell you. Personality and conversation are what improve the experience. Stop tipping don't let the guilty conscience of the employer passing on the customer expense to you because they don't pay their staff.

How about business owners budget their employees wages before hiring someone.

I almost never tip. People who serve are supposed to do their duties without hesitation, that’s their job. Doing their job well with good attitude should grant their hourly wage and nothing more. This will encourage owners to pay their employees well without stressing customers who are already paying the ridiculous markup.

Servers and delivery drivers should be tipped. If you walk up to the counter and order a crumbl cookie, you don't need to tip.

I don’t feel pressured to tip at a restaurant unless I’m at a place where I am served at the table. I am in CA, and all restaurant workers, including servers receive the state minimum wage. Those states who still have the “tipped minimum wage” are the problem. There’s no way that a server can live on $2/hr. Much of the fault is the lobbying of the National Restaurant Association and the representatives who they bought in Congress.

Knock it off with tipping. Costumers are NOT responsible for tipping. It is NOT the law. The employers are responsible to tip or give bonus to their employees. Costumers is only responsible for what is on the menu.

The restaurant industry has successfully shifted the burden of paying their employees to the customers while they make bigger profits. They are achieving this by making the customer feel guilty if they don't pay a tip. While the restaurant prices continue to go up, they continually suggest the percentages they want you to pay. The minimum tip used to be 10%. Its now 15 - 20%. The restaurant industry should pay their employees a livable wage.

Employers should pay a proper living wage, before tips. Owners shouldn't shift that responsibility to customers. Customers should not be guilted into tipping, nor subsidizing employee wages.

I used to go into a vape shop to buy inhaled poison. The credit card receipt had a tip box where you were supposed to reward the guy behind the glass for reaching for the vape and ringing it up.
