I feel like Keenan is underappreciated by some viewers. To me, he might be the most important component in the show. And often is the reason the whole thing hasn't completely imploded over the years. He's stability. He's reliability. He's the all-around best player on the team. He's not the 'showiest' member, but he is the most versatile. He's the best straight man, which is often a thankless task. He's a team player in that he does whatever needs to be done to make the sketch or character the best. His facial reactions and gestures send material over the top. His different cadence deliveries turn sentences that aren't necessarily laugh out loud funny, just that. I cannot imagine SNL without him. He's carried that show at times, especially during years that were otherwise clunkers. And he's always allowed his co-stars and guests to shine, proving he's a generous, selfless performer which is so rare on these types of shows which are populated by hyper competitive performers. I love it when he breaks Colin Jost and Michael Che.
