A very rare track taken from the compilation "The Philadelphia Years" (2006) by Daryl Hall & John Oates. Simple but awesome... just lovely! =D

Music and lyrics by Len Barry and John Madara
Performed by Daryl Hall

Sunrise captures the moon
And the dawn brings a beautiful day
A lonely girl sits in her room
Waits for someone to take her away
Downstairs, breakfast is served
And the world seems awake and alive
A lonely girl sits in her room
And waits for him to arrive
The phone rings and she runs to reply
But it's not who she wants it to be
A lonely girl tries not to cry
And sits upside by a lonely tree
She thinks of things and quietly dreams
Of a day when there's love in the air
A lonely girl sits in her room
And waits for him to be there
She thinks of things and quietly dreams
Of a day when there's love in the air
A lonely girl sits in her room
And waits for him to be there
A lonely girl sits in her room
And waits for him to be there

@emcleod2192 You're welcome! And yeah, Daryl was 22 and his voice at that time was kinda raw, he hasn't use it for a long time yet... but it's pretty normal, the more you use your voice to sing, the more it changes over the years... and he has been singing for almost 40 years uninterruptibly, that's a great amount of time, isn't it? :)

@emcleod2192 Yes, I always stay tuned on "Live From Daryl's House"! That's pretty amazing how this man can perform so well in his age, many musicians and singers with the same age are not able to do what he does :) And he seems to be very funny and spontaneous, that's why the presentations sound pretty well and light in this sense :D

defined as the lonely one .... waiting to be called by the one that will...... see her as she is ..... a one that can feel ... the one that says he does ........

This is perhaps his most beautiful and sad song. Daryl is truly a master of songwriting, and he used to be able to sing this well too.

I have listened to this many times before and have been amazed by Daryl Hall and his vocal and musical talent. Now that he and his equally talented partner John Oates have been on the road recently I just want to remind everyone of how these legends started and to give them the respect they deserve. They are true singers, musicians and song writers. This song, so beautifully preserved by someone so that the rest of us could listen to it decades later just proves how lovely and powerful a singer Daryl Hall was and is. Age is a reminder that we have forgotten more than we can remember but anyone who heard Daryl Hall belting our "She's Gone" will never forget.
