Mine was back to the factory for 8 weeks for repair of a broken thumb safety. Same wording on the work order as yours, not a hint of what was actually done. The safety was repaired, thankfully. I thought I knew something about semi autos, but have never heard of a ledge on a feed ramp. What possible function can it have other than to inhibit feeding? I did my own polishing.
ОтветитьHighway Patrolman Model 27 I think
ОтветитьI just got mine and don’t have any feeding issues. but the sights are way off and I couldn’t load more than 2-3 rounds in the 12 round mag. I got a replacement mag from S&W, but dealing with their customer service was a joke.
ОтветитьI contacted S&W concerning the recoil spring assembly issue about 3 weeks ago. The person I was dealing with
was very pleasant (no attitude) and said they were aware of the issue and would get me a new part out as soon as they were back in stock. Today
(11/12) it came in the mail and unfortunately it was worse than the original unit. My spring is tucked in where it needs to be but still no joy. Could the cavity where the guide rod goes into be slightly undersized?
Update: I sent an email to S&W yesterday (11/12) telling them I received the replacement recoil spring assembly and that it did not work. This morning, customer service replied to my email saying they were sorry it didn't solve my issue and would be sending me yet another replacement. While I appreciate they're response, I'm afraid that I'm going to get another part exactly like the first two. Fingers crossed!
Last 2 S&w I sent in for warranty were a joke on their part.
I have a 66-8 that is very rough from the kerf when they cut the forging, cylinder gap was at max (as new), and there was a good amount of end shake. They said it was within spec. 2 weeks wait.
A bg380 “1.0” had a bent frame rail and wouldn’t feed/extract without being hand manipulated. They said rail was within spec, but fixed the feeding issue by replacing the grip assembly. 5 months wait.
Sorry to hear about all these problems...my 2.0 has been a snappy little beast with zero issues. In NJ, so just running 10 rd mags. Great gun.
ОтветитьI have had issues with all of the premier brands including s&w. It's the state of affairs with all companies. Bought a Beretta that was so out of spec they offered me any other gun I wished. Such things have become the norm. I'm 70 years old so I know how it used to be.
ОтветитьMine didn’t have the MIM ledge, and shot great. But they forgot to install one of the rear frame coin pin
ОтветитьI HAVE ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. The gun is practically useless as it stands. and it catastrophically fails with any flat face ammo.
ОтветитьBuy the Hilljak QL380M. It works wonders for getting that 12th round in the mag, and works on both the S&W BG 2.0 and the Ruger LCP Max.
ОтветитьThat "W" is actually an "M". It stands for Maryville, TN.
ОтветитьHad just one problem with Smith, but it was a big one. In 2015 I bought a M&P .40 that I though was a good price, brand new, and a LGS. I went straight to the range with it, put a little oil on the rails, and fired a couple mags. I was lucky to get a 10" group with it. I field stripped the pistol and looked in the barrel, and it was completely smooth-bore. No lands and grooves. The only mark inside the barrel looked like a single small tooling gouge that ran about 3/4 the length of the barrel. I called Smith and even sent pics of the barrel. They said, "No way that's true, you would have to fire tens of thousands of rounds to make it smooth." They completely blew me off. I spent $120 on a new barrel and sold the pistol asap. Took several years (and the Shield Plus) to take another chance on Smith. Hopefully their quality control and customer service have improved since 2015.
ОтветитьGlock is king!
ОтветитьNever had a problem with mine 😊
ОтветитьThe only issue I have is that the front site is not centered.
ОтветитьS&W model 28 was the highway patrolmen pistol
ОтветитьW marks guns made in Tennessee
ОтветитьBought mine 9/6/2024. Had it at the indoor range twice. Today is 11/19/2024 and still in the process of allegedly being repaired for the second time as stated prior. DO NOT BELIEVE THE NOTABLE REVIEWERS.
Trade in value is zero.
Great job Kermit
ОтветитьMine is a jam-o-matic. Every brand/type ammo I try fails to feed. My 12-round magazine only holds 11 rounds, and my rear sight is not centered which results in it not shooting at point of aim.. my Glock 42 is head and shoulders above this gun. Going to contact smith and wesson this week and see about returning it for service. Not real happy with this gun.
ОтветитьI sent back a new 38 because it looked like someone threw it across the parking lot before they blued it & they didn't write one word on the repair form.
Ответитьwhen I first got mine I had issues with failing to return to battery and failures to eject. After approx 150 rounds the problems all went away. I did polish the feed ramp with a dremel and fitz polish but no idea if that helped more than the break-in
ОтветитьIt appears that the s&w bg 2.0 has been a great success i understand they are back ordered. I have a g42 with a pierce +1 extension for a total of 8 rounds. I have shot it enough to trust this combination. The grip extension gives the gun much better purchase. Glock is a combat weapon they are extremely reliable although you must remember with these small guns to grip them firmly because of the light weight and low recoil it is easy to limp wrist them. I belive i will keep my g42 and pass on the 2.0.
ОтветитьThis may not work for your mag.. BUT I also could not get the last round in the 12rd mag. With 11 rounds in I took a bic pen and pushed down on the last round, depressing it as far as I could and BAM now I can load it fully by hand (its still pretty stiff, but no longer inpossible). Ymmv
ОтветитьSent my 1st gen Bodyguard 380 back 4 times in 9 months. They always kept it 1.5 months or more every time. Always received my return slip right after the phone call. I can't get 12 in my Mag either. It feeds everything though. Ball and defensive loads like Underwood defender and penetrator all run. I'm waiting for an aftermarket recoil spring. Hope someone makes one soon.
ОтветитьI found another issue with mine. If I put a single round in the chamber and release the slide, it won't go fully into battery. I've never had that issue with a pistol.
ОтветитьTo disassemble the slide completely and take the back plate off you must take off the rear sight. I used my sight pusher and still needed to put an extension on that to get it off. Thank you for the honest review.
ОтветитьMy BG 2.0 came out of the box needing an alignment. The slide rails crooked. The back rails seemed okay but the front rails were sitting lower in the frame and canted off to the right. S&W sent a shipping label after my fist email. Hopefully it won't take them too long to get that straightened out.
ОтветитьI bought two. I have the same issues on the sights. Horrible quality control. The must have hired Boeing quality control guys.
ОтветитьA new gun facility in Massachusetts?? One of the most anti-gun states…. hmmmm I doubt that
ОтветитьGlad I saw this, another thing to look for. Still planning to buy, had seen previous videos where the sights were off but otherwise great reviews.
ОтветитьNewest hot guns are good to buy…a year-year & 1/2 after it is released. That’s what I do & any kinks are worked out by that time. Takem easy.
ОтветитьModel 28 Highway Patrol
ОтветитьI own a Model 28 Highway Patrol, second firearm I owned after a JC Higgins bolt action 22. The Model 28 was a high school graduation gift from my parents. After letting the 12 round mag sit for a month with 11 rounds in it I had to fix the red plastic part so it would feed. Now it holds 12 rounds and functions as it should. I haven't tried puching the rear sight yet, that is the next fix.
ОтветитьClose up of what they did would have been helpful
ОтветитьMy issue... even after cycling/loading some 800 rounds the 12-round mag will NOT accept 12 rounds.
11'th- round is difficult and #12 is impossible.
I contacted S&W and just today another 12-round mag arrived and unfortunately it shares the same problem > > > the 12'th round will NOT go in.
I 'believe' when the mag spring is compressed there simply isn't enough room for the 12'th round.
Even with a mag-loader the 12-round mag will NOT accept the 12'th ... the 11'th round is barely doable.
No problem with the 10-round mag.
Oh, my 2.0 arrived with the front sight favoring the right side.
so good with numbers...
ОтветитьNew to firearms, I've noticed many shill channels, and overly loyal, blindly nationalistic fanboys for domestic gun companies.
I was commenting on the Glockness of the new Ruger RXM, and was getting hate for it. Thanks for the honest review.
Wait a minute how can this be true, all the big Gun Tubers said it was flawless and the greatest invention since the wheel. This is killing my faith in YT reviews!
ОтветитьOther than the front sight way off center, mine has been flawless and accurate- only 300 rds through it though
Ответить5 months and 700 rounds mine has been flawless with cheap HP and flat nose. Sight is just a hair low left but not bad. I can get 12 and 10 rounds using my pink Lula, it did help to keep them loaded full since day one. Yes its tight but I can hand load the 10 rounder without the Lula. Yes I have to smack the back to load a full mag with one in the chamber. I polished my ramps on day one like I do with all my pistols and yes I had the slight bump I mostly removed long ago. It was not perfect out of box but it works reliable for me, same thing with my Toyota.
ОтветитьI love smith and wesson but you are 100% correct about their quality control. 7 m&ps and only one was good to go out of box.
ОтветитьSo what similar gun would you recommend? I am just now shopping.
ОтветитьAgain Paul, I really appreciate your detailed subjective review and providing the results of your experience with S&W Customer Service. As I posted on your original video on this, I agree with you. I really wanted this gun to be my pocket carry. I have done some "gunsmithing" on it and will be doing more testing Jan 4th. If it will go 1,000 rounds with ZERO failures, I will consider it as option to my P365 micro as my CC or EDC. It is so sad and rather pathetic that S&W has botched what could have been the pocket carry handgun of the decade.
ОтветитьTypical S&W, all marketing and sponsorship hype. Same with their M&P line.
ОтветитьHighway Patrolman Model 28
Great video…thanks! 👍
Just curious, but did the manual say to adjust the POI by moving the rear sight? I know that's standard, but the manual for my Shield Plus said to make sight adjustments by moving the FRONT sight (which was also a PITA, by the way).
ОтветитьYou talk so fast your words all run together!
ОтветитьMy slide in pretty hard to take off and put on. It takes a good bit of force both ways. I emailed SW, but no reply. Also, mine shoots to the left, like other's. So i have to buy a pusher to fix that. First gun i've owned with any type of issue
ОтветитьInteresting video. It's too bad you didn't choose to break in a new gun with target ammo instead of hollow points. It's kinda like taking a new car to the race track with only 20 miles on the odometer. My 2.0 doesn't have the feed ramp molding issue that yours does, and it still has issues with hollow points, but all target ammo shoots flawlessly. Personally, anything I can do to improve reliability for a pocket carry and minimize jams is more important than penetration and damage from the round. 12 dependable target rounds are better than 2 successful hollow point rounds followed by numerous FTE's. I reserve hollow points for my larger caliber firearms. The tolerances are just too tight on pocket carry semi-automatics, IMHO.
On a side note, Fiochi 380 Defense Dynamics ammo won't cycle in this gun or my LCP Max, so there are two reasons why I only shoot target loads. Not much point in blaming both guns.
Regarding the magazines, yes it's impossible to load the last round by hand without a large speedloader suitable for 9mm mags. Point taken. And to insert the mag I need to have the slide open, insert the 12rd mag and then close the slide putting, one in the chamber. I have the thumb safety, plus an Alabama Holster (Pocket) made from a mold of the gun to prevent misfires, so it's very safe.
The split feed ramp may be this guns Achilles heel, but hopefully those repairs will make it more reliable. I love mine.
Nice video.
