I’ve tried all monitor positions with my laptop, and in my opinion, placing the monitor above the laptop (third position) is the best for coding. It reduces the need for constant head movement. Plus, I don’t need a separate stand for the laptop. In other positions, I experienced a lot of head movement, especially since I wear glasses that limit my peripheral vision, so I have to move my head more often.
