ОтветитьI'm impressed you guys got that to work. Very well done.
ОтветитьLambo style door hinges are the way to go. Lambo style open out and up
ОтветитьThoroughly enjoyed your episode and appreciate the design period ethos you and your dad are working to keep. Door hinges are fiddley and you guys did fantastic. Love your work

Ответить🦟 That is such an elegant design, well done lads.
ОтветитьMozzy Doors - again, a masterclass in invention. Thanks guys

Could a gas strut be mounted within the door cavity towards the horizontal, window mech permitting, and push somewhere near the hinge?
I’m sure the finished hinge will have much tighter clearances and bearings in the pivot.🦟

ОтветитьIm not a qualified engineer . But as draftsman I've spent a lot of time trying to design what engineers dream up . And wasted loads of time waiting for them to realise that simple is better stronger and more reliable. I fear that your design brief won't ever be other than , too flimsy. But I'm 5 ,10 so I may not fully understand your requirements.
ОтветитьHey hey. I'm one of the people that roots for the longer videos, but your idea of putting out 2 videos, when appropriate, is probably an even better idea!! I don't watch television or movies, so Yt is my entertainment source. That gives me more time to watch videos than many people have. The 2 video per week format should work great for everybody that likes your project.
ОтветитьScary complex part to design. Really looking forward to the next one. 🦟
ОтветитьI love the engeineering but that one point hinge looks too small, light and weak. how can it handle any twisting while open?

Ответить🦟As allways: great video lads !🦟
ОтветитьHowdy howdy...
That's quite the little Go Cart you folks are building !!!
I'm more than a little curious what it will handle like in the Real World ???
The memories of bonding with your dad will become more important in your later life !!!
That is providing that cute little buggy doesn't become your coffin !!!
Other people out on the road are the main concern...
You have to expect anything from them !!!
I quit riding motorcycles for that very reason !!!
May I make some suggestions ???
You had best paint it in some very "Attention Getting"
Colors !!!
An extremely loud an unique horn !!!
Always have a good Fire Extinguisher and a few flares...
You may want to make a small model and explore the aerodynamics of a front air dam/chin and a rear spoiler/wing ???
Be safe be careful and enjoy your special time with your dad !!!
With the angle between the glass and the door, I am very interested to see how you set it up to roll down. Maybe the camera makes it look like a bigger angle?

ОтветитьAlfa Romeo GTA 1300 push button handles could be a really cool feature, maybe with a pocket on the door shut part of the quater panel for thr lifting of the door.

ОтветитьWoooHooo A second Video. Look forward to it, the door hinges look like they're coming along nicely. 🦟

ОтветитьI hope the second video plan works! While the video was playing a thought occurred to me about stress on the fiberglass door. What are your plans to mitigate stress cracks from the single hinge? More layers of glass on the leading edge? Lengthen the hinge body that mounts to the door with a plate inside the door frame? Possibly an aluminum tube on the leading edge of the door? I'm wondering if in addition to the stress of opening and closing, plus the twisting force of wind loads while opening the door might put more stresses than anyone is thinking about. I'd also look at putting a locating pin at the bottom of the door front to help prevent any possible buffeting. Great work as always! 🦟

ОтветитьAwesome! As always, i just need more content now 🤣🤣
ОтветитьLooking forward to seeing a second video. Love that we're calling it a mosquito door, particularly because butterflies wings dont fold along their bodies and mosquito ones do.
ОтветитьI will reserve judgement
But the leverage on that single hinge effectively means the persons arm who is opening closing the door is effectively the 2nd hinge to stop it drooping / flexing
Its a cool design but tradditional double hinge is infinitely stronger
Interested to see where & how your support piston will go
Great video❤

ОтветитьI really love the ingenuity on this car there are so many thoughts in the parts to make it work the way you want is brilliant, top job again🦟👍👍🦟🦟

ОтветитьWow! there's a lot going on with that door hinge, but then there's a lot going on everywhere on the car. Love your passion and tenacity as the project moves forward. 🦟🦟🦟😎.

ОтветитьLooking good.🦟
ОтветитьMosquito doors! 🦟
ОтветитьDoors look ridiculous.
ОтветитьThis is a long and drawn out suggestion, but hear me out. It appears the aft edge of the door is parallel with the forward edge of the window frame/angle of the windshield. Thus with all the hard work you are already planning to do to the door structure and having to design a complicated roll down window which will require a quarter vent window, why don't you just rebuild the forward portion of the door to be angled and parallel with the back edge of the door extending forward. Yes, this would also require the front clam shell be modified with a corresponding angle to match the new angle of the leading edge of the door but the end result would allow you to put 2 hinges in the body of the door and none on the "weaker" window frame. It would also remove the requirement for a quarter vent window and it would allow for a full size window to be rolled down into the door body at an angle solving most if not all the window installation issues. Having both hinge lines in the same plane as the door/clamshell gap will also make the door fitment easier and you will be able to make the lip on the door fold neatly behind the clamshell. Not having the second hinge on the window frame will also make it much easier to seal the window frame when the door is closed. I look forward to your videos each week and your awesome work so keep it up and i totally understand if my idea is rubbish.

ОтветитьIt’s as ugly as a bent over monkeys at this time but this hinge making stuff is interesting. 🦟
