THE SHOT CONTEST GLITCH THAT WILL BREAK NBA 2K25..

This game is beyond ass

Hand up defense is not good at all. I will definitely try this today.

It looks like the number one factor for contest is how close the defender is to the shooter at the start of the shot. Im sure perimeter defense, challenger, height, and where the defender’s hand is at time of release are factored also.

People got accustomed to being able to stand 2-3 steps back from the shooter with their hands up so they could defend the shot and slashing at the same time. The auto-contest and challenger would do the work for them instead of having to actually step up on the shooter.

PATCH! Another thing I’ve noticed is I’ll jump for a contest on the perimeter the shot contest will say “open” but challenger pops up sometimes. Wonder how much that is affecting a shot

Yeah come to think about it i havent seen locks like really lock up somebody this year its just a bunch of lane steals. And occasionally some pick pockets

People been talking about a lot of things but the shot contest system all over the court is the most asinine part of this game. Gotta love smothering perfect contact layups and getting easy lays that say “open”

I got an idea they should either take out personal fouls for running into screens or automatically give the guys set the screen illegal screen for sitting there holding it for too long

Its very bad. I have a 95 perimeter and HOF challenger and SHORTER gaurds shoot right over me when im in their face

This is more a workaround than a glitch.. crazy that you have to play worse defense to get a better contest

U just need to ran at them no hands up and u will get a contest every time I found this out the other day and u don’t need high defense I got 80 defense and get a bunch of tight contest all day

every shot you put your hands up the shot becomes open no matter how close you are this year, its backwards

Noticed this problem about 6 days into the game I was getting tight contests when I would reach or not put a hand up but everything was open if I had a hand up with HOF challenger made a bunch of jokes to my homies saying the meta was hands down defense guess I was right😂😭

Forget the shot contest system standing dunk meter feels impossible to time

Shot contesting when you're not actually doing it became a thing when they tried fixing the contest system on hook shots. They're still using the same contest system so basically this wont get fixed 😂

Unfortunately bigs suffer for this because they don't have a high enough perimeter defense to contest perimeter shots. It plays a big factor this year which is why I'm making a 6'7 center with at least 85 PD or try to get it to 92 PD and sacrifice someplace else (maybe lower steal)

Yeah idk, i think shooting is solid, however I would be okay with a wide open shot boost, IF they buff and fix shot contests. Good nba shooters are pretty damn great when wide open, its good defense that brings down their percentages. Id prefer that over artificially altering green windows on open shots to bring down shot %s

Mike wang said, the shot contest system rewards players that are there before the shot animations start.. if your late it’s basically not a contest.. system could do better with the grey areas tho! If you’re late to contest it’s an open shot!

dribble pull up with someone in your face is way harder than following through on a late close out. I always hated that late close outs would be such a good contest

Like tbh these jump contest you are not there people want to get bailed out for tryna help the pg who is getting bullied cause you wanted to make a midget. Then when it’s kicked out you think jump from just outside the box to the corner should give a contest. Now no hands up I think at max it should be a light and tbh very light if they wanna ad it cause aside from if your kd or porter jr types your not just pulling up a jumper and someone is standing in front of you closely

Another thing is that the fact the we all make a jumpsuit with defense immunity closest to a+ and release height a+ do you think these affect why the contests are goofy

I think the game would be great if they take away RNG shooting and fix shot contest and award players with high challenger and good defense. THAT IS A SKILLED BASED GAME.

Tell them patch the closeshot fade glitch Tell them FIX missing wide open layups and tell fix proving grounds match makin

Tell them patch dese no ballhandlin builds that’s moving like guards

Tell fix ppl flyin across the court for steals

It’s not about hands anymore, it’s just about how close your feet are. Step on their toes and it’s a very tight.

I’ve been saying if they fix the contest system, it would change so much!!! You could nurf steal, and rebounding would be even more important aaaaannnnddd you don’t have to mess with shooting!!! 🤦🏾‍♂️

Everything in this game is an animation battle. I dribble and shoot with a 10 sided die vs your 6 sided die shot contest, whoever gets the higher number on the roll wins. When you leave things to animations like “hands up” or “jump” it triggers the animation battle. (My shot vs your shot defense). This is why your player slows down on blocks even if you’re in perfect position, you lost the roll of the dice so 2k needs to slow you down or pull your hand back. Running at the player bypasses this animation battle for some reason.

This is what happens when the game is all animations with algorithms attached.

It’s crazy cus this been in the game for years! Contest system been trash for years !

The defense is ok could use some work. What I don’t understand is, the jump off the contest that knocks you on the floor. What’s that about and no foul.👀🤦🏽‍♂️💯 wtf!?

This is the worst contest I have seen on 2k in 5 year! I am a 97 perimeter lock 6’7 and if I jump at a 5’9 PG ITS IDE OPEN.

Last years contest was perfect. 2k = 3 steps forward 8 steps back. How do we go from legitimate shot contest percentage to all white open contest?? ASSSSSSSS

In real life this dude he kicks his feet out when he shoots so when you jump contest it's like you can't get to him cause he shoots it over his head but I realize if I just but my leg in his little kick out space it throws off his entire balance in the shot... so yeah surprisingly it's realistic but I'm sure it's a mistake knowing 2k
