ОтветитьMark burley at mb motorspots is a genius and his work is amazing
Take it back to him to map it ect
Just wondering what is the Pink Floyd Breathe eseque song in the background?
ОтветитьI need to see more of a supercharged C27
ОтветитьBritish designers must be masochists otherwise this car (and others) wouldn't be produced
ОтветитьBL had to use those bad colours as the workforce used to steal the paint !
ОтветитьCan we have a update please
ОтветитьI had an equally appalling Princess which I deliberately ran the alloy engine extremely hot without coolant then dosed the whole muthafukka with freezing water. And yes, the engine shattered but nowhere near as dramatically as I wanted. I fucking hated that car but loved it, too. No, I just hated it.
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic project.
ОтветитьAbsolutely beautiful!
ОтветитьWhat happened with this project? I can never find anything continuing on this.
ОтветитьJonny has big balls, he starting on a car that looks terrible, most people like to start with something they think looks good, and then make better.
Ответитьi was trainee mechanic in the mid 80's they were called Austin agro
ОтветитьI was a bit against the idea when I first started watching but your wish to keep it BL / AR / Roverish really has won me over. Those 14" wheels are exactly what I would do given the time, money, workshop space and talent. On to Part 2 in my Sunday morning bingefest! Good work.
ОтветитьMy first car was an allegro. I love them!
ОтветитьRWD would have been awesome.
ОтветитьI would love to see an update on this project. I would convert it into a hatchback with folding rear seats while I was at it!
ОтветитьBro thus is fecking brilliant
ОтветитьJonny! My Man! I'm a bit of a latecomer. It's so good to see a car show that isn't presented by a know-all dickhead! Your genuine enthusiasm shines through.Keep it up!
ОтветитьMy Father was Engineering Manager at Vanden Plas in Kingsbury, One day he bought the Vanden Plas 1500 press car home before it was released (VDP 74N) and we went for a drive in it, I rather liked it and still do to this day, he later had an Allegro 1750 HLS as his company car
ОтветитьOh. Here was me, an Aussie, thinking that the Marina was BL’s most appalling creation. Thank god they never tried to bring the Allegro here! Or did they? What a thought. So repulsive, it a l m o s t makes me think fondly of a French cars. Good luck with the project, though; it’s so bad that it’s almost good. In an ironic way.
ОтветитьFeck me it’s a sporty 2dr!🙈🤷♂️😂
I love your weird shit!👍🏻
Wow this is so cool. My mum had a brown one with an orange stripe. This was in Switzerland, needless to say it must have been one of the only ones.
ОтветитьMy dad had one of these - the rear passenger door swung open as I was sat in the back as 5 year old kid - I always check car doors are locked since
ОтветитьPlease make this a playlist so it's easier to find the first/next video, especially after you've taken a break from watching them
ОтветитьVile car
ОтветитьJonny that's cool
ОтветитьYou live in Lincolnshire?
Do you know the Lincolnshire Poacher?
Going for the K20 was definitely a better option.
ОтветитьNothing better than a BL sleeper, I've done a landcrab with a VW VR6 24v 2.8 conversion
ОтветитьWhat's happening with the allegro now? Is Adam still doing it?
Ответитьallegro is brisk speed in MUSIC, I'M SURE AVANTE IS ITALIAN FOR FASTER
ОтветитьThis 'sleeper' could be even more effective (surprising) than a beefed-up Morris Traveller.
ОтветитьHeh. My first car after I passed my test in 1983 was an Allegro. Blue, S reg but with the round steering wheel. Crashed it into a stone bridge after a night out, yes I was pissed, never done that again since, learned my lesson there. It was, as I recall, quite a solid car. The replacement one (same model) wasn't though, and dropped an exhaust valve half way round the Coventry ring road. Ah, the memories are flooding back 🤣
ОтветитьAwesome, I hadn't found you when you started this project but just saw you posted part 9 so searched to start from the beginning. I learned to drive in a red/orange allegro and always wanted to do a build like this, so for now I will live vicariously through you! Thank you!
ОтветитьAllegro is one of the several ways of saying happy in Italian, but when used as a musical term it’s meant to indicate an upbeat or faster tempo. So, I’d suggest that the best English translation of your cars model name would be the Austin Upbeat…
ОтветитьBeing ex-Rover I love the 827. Had two 800s myself including a 1991 827SLi. I would probably have used a V6 2.8 turbo from the Saab 9-3. 250 or 280 horse versions available and a st1 map takes it well north of 300 horse.
ОтветитьWow I didn't realise this project is 17 years old!
ОтветитьI remember my uncle having a brown 1 of these 😂😂😂
ОтветитьHe had a brown Austin princess as well
ОтветитьThanks wt martin for putting these Allegro vids into a neat playlist. 🚗 😊
ОтветитьI love the allegro. My first car. I want an allegro estate
Ответить4 years ago !!! Well 17 , Bloody hell Jonny
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьThis was 4 years ago!!!!
Nope it wasn’t ’really fast’ was it 😂
Love this soooooo much
ОтветитьI saw an Allegro this colour on a low-loader in Hull last Monday, IE, 17/03/25 - could it have been this one? I could only see it from the back so don't know how many doors it had, but seeing it made me smile!
ОтветитьBlows my mind how random this channel is. Fantastic job Jonny.
