Quick question what do you think about klipsch reference speakers line, not the reference premiere. Im on a budget and got a really good deal on the reference line including 2 R820F for mains, a R34C for center chanel and 4 R51M for sorround and a 12" sub for a 7.1 system. For less than $1400. I want to know your honest opinion on Klipsch speakers and the audio quality of these. Also the best crossover setings for them. Thanks

I think that all the Denon and Marantz products of 2018 are excellent performers at various price-points. Marantz being on top for it's musicality... I own a couple of Marantz SR7012's and am blown away every time I use them at how rich and detailed they sound. :)

A given loudspeaker design, were an extra mid/woofer is implemented, in these cases in a DAppolito configuration (WTW), reinforces those shared frequencies, increases dynamic efficiency, makes for a stronger more coherent sound propegation, more solid image, helpes eliminate distortion (you tend to only hear commonalities shared between multiple drivers covering same frequencies), and, placed vertically, helps reduce ceiling to floor reflections. In short, Dappolitos are more effective tools for movie mixes, as well as more demanding dynamic material, music, etc. This BASICALLY is advantageous in medium to larger spaces or rooms. In smaller rooms, where you don't need so much output, and sit artistically closer to the speaker in relation to the boundaries((mainly ceiling, but also surrounding walls), small 2 way standard monitors work fine, crossed over at 80hz.
Just a thought on 2 way Dappolitos, DO have their advantages, such as placed vertically, behind projection screens and what not. Horns, offer some more flexibility, however.

Picked up the Vizio Quantum P65 for $ 1522.00 from Costco online in November 2018 the Brightest TV I have ever seen yet some how I seem to like my 11 year old 58" Panasonic Plasma TV 1080I which seems to be pretty close to the LG OLED C8 series I do have Oppo 205 UDP plus high definition streaming sometimes I think the Panny has a better picture quality color depth specially when it comes to SDR ? so Gene ! what am I missing here ?

Listening to your description of the Anthem STR 2Ch Pre-Amp for $4K you would do as well for only $1199 with the Emotiva XSP-1 Differential Ref. Pre-Amp which I use between my Oppo UDP-205 and Denon AVR-4311ci (soon to be replaced with Denon AVR-X8500H which opened your 2018 Product otYA Winners). Have a great Audio New Year!!

Gene I just brought 2 svs pb 3000 and a set of klipsch 8060 atmos speakers and center and surround and back speakers for my theater setup, but I need a powerful amp to do the job, also I need it to be able to play stereo 2 channel bi-amp front stage setup will this Denon 8500h do the job, or the Marantz 8012, or the Yamaha but this one just have 9 channels i will need 11 for the fronts to be bi-amp for my front stage. Also I saw one of your older videos where you spoke about power output which companies are hyping up the wattage per channel where 140 watts it properly 50 watts. Can you tell me if I purchase this Denon would I get true wattage, Please I need your help to complete my theater room project. Thank You

I recently switched from 2 Klipsch R115SW’s to 2 SVS PB4000’s because we moved to a new single level home with the dreaded “great room” layout. Nearly 10,000 cubic feet including kitchen, dining room and family room. All with 10ft vaulted ceilings that top out at 16ft!!!🤦🏻‍♂️ These things are absolute monsters!!!! Paired with the new Klipsch R7-III, 64III, 6 RP surrounds & height speakers. It’s about as good as I can do without spending double what I’ve already spent. Don’t ever buy a great room house and make it you’re home theatre as well. It looks cool, but it’s just to big of an area. You’re the man Gene!!!

For a channel dedicated to AV , you have some of the worst audio I have heard of any channel , get a decent mic

I have a small room and 13 channels is overkill. Would you recommend the x4500h instead? Is there no difference between these except the number of channels? Stil monoblock etc.

MY SET UP IS POWER BY A YAMAHA RX-670 80 WATTS PER CHANNEL. WHTA DO YOU THINK ABOUT ADDING THE DENON 8500 WITH SIDE SURROUNDS AND DOLBY ATMOS .PLUS WHAT ATMOS BRAND WOULD YOU USE ? Just picked up a never used (but tested) STR Anthem amp on the used market and will be buying the matching Preamp thanks to your very thorough reviews! I've got some pretty power hungry and fairly reactive Polk L600s that will finally see full headroom yet now also be fully tamed via the ARC Genesis and bass management abilities. I can't wait to get two subs going in stereo mode to really bring the house down!
