Populist faction all the way!
ОтветитьAs strange as this is to say, the politics of the Old Republic feel more real and less stupid than those of the New one.
ОтветитьWait a minute. This sounds like separatist propaganda.
Politicians from the outer rims wanted total deregulation.
The corporations in the outer rim worlds, mainly the ones led by the Neimodian and the banking Muun's were monopolies, and they wanted to keep expanding their enterprises.
Taxes on the trade routes, many of which were used to fund programs in the outer rim themselves to try and get them up to speed with mid-rim worlds, meant taxes mostly on the monopolies (I swear I remember reading this in one of the Star Wars books but GOD I can't find the exact quotes).
This level of deregulation is the same reason why groups reliant in slavery and drug trade also joined separatists.
Not that the creation of the clone army helped the case against slavery for the core worlds, but the separatist were not that great...
Of course, the core worlds were indeed elitists, and humanists. You can see that in Naboo were the natives of the planet were seeing as inferior even though they were actually incredibly advanced.
I wonder what the Star Wars Version of the Democrats would be like. DRIOD RIGHTS! LOL.
ОтветитьI do believe I would be a Senator for the Delagation of 2000. Centralized power is never a good thing...
ОтветитьShame that you didn't mention the New Republic's factions in Legends.
ОтветитьThe Rim faction OR
The New Order GE
The Extremist Populist faction NR
Queen Satine? Mandalore has no Queen, it's ruler is called Mand'alor and it certainly wasn't Satine Kryze, she is a usurper who did not earn her way to the throne through trial by combat. THIS IS THE WAY
ОтветитьI would form my own which would heavily centralize the government, however there would also be direct democracy.
ОтветитьIf the holonet can handle verifying voting, then reducing the central government of the New Republic having to solve particular worlds' problems and granting more autonomy to member worlds go hand-in-hand. When worlds violate laws and even start conflicts, then a certain amount of military hierarchy is relevant
ОтветитьPopulist, outer rim supporter and finally a tiny bit of militarist
ОтветитьBasically the Galactic Republic was the Star Wars version of the European Union and NATO. Interesting how Europe is currently experiencing a lot of separatism! First with Brexit leaving the union. Then regions trying to break away from its country such as Catalonia and now the Donbas region of Ukraine. Although Ukraine is not part of the EU and NATO it is within its sphere of influence!
ОтветитьIt blows me away that this 8 minute video did a much better and more interesting job discussing space politics than the combined efforts of the entire prequel trilogy.
ОтветитьSo many similar elements to American History
ОтветитьI hate to sound political. But this has political parallels so why not talk about it?
Why is it people are saying the rim faction is very Democratic leaning when the rim faction is seemingly more capitalist? And while the core faction is more wealthy they're all about more taxes and expanding and restricting laws on free trade? This is sounding like giving more power to the "government" which is what free market capitalists IRL hate.
Finally, someone brave enough for politics
ОтветитьFucking rimtards right?
ОтветитьLeia is related to Darth Vader
Everyone: 😡
Leia is also related to Luke Skywalker
Everyone: 🦗
The political parties of the Galactic Republic, Empire, and New Republic make the Democratic and Republican political parties of the USA on Earth look like child's play
ОтветитьBoth the Populists and Centrists were wrong.
ОтветитьI would support the democratic and freedom parties in the Republic.
ОтветитьPays to check up on Star Wars side materials beyond the films and TV series.
And man, the Disney Canon Alt-universe is way more crapsack compared to Legends.
Old Republic:
Core Faction: Centrist leaning right, or Conservative. Many policies fit for the most part with the GOP.
Rim Faction: Surprisingly, Libertarian Right. Less taxation, less regulation, weaker government are all Right Libertarian policies.
Loyalists:Social Democrat. Senators like Padme Amidala fall in this spectrum which makes up most of the faction.
Militarists:Early in the war, it seems very much like an “Arsenal of Democracy” kind of thing. Maybe Neoconservative? Late in the war, definitely imperialist due to humanist tendencies and loss of faith in the democratic system.
Council of neutral systems: no particular ideology. It’s mostly just a protective alliance that doesn’t focus on any political movement. But since it was heard by the queen of mandalore, perhaps Monarchist.
League of 2000:maybe the same as the Loyalists. Definitely the same ideology as the rebellion which is classified as a Pro-democratic republic coalition. Probably aligns with the modern Democratic Party.
Empire:
New order party: easily imperialist. No question.
New Republic:
Centrists: shockingly, Centrist. Mix of left and right ideals but I’d say it leans a bit more to the left. Center Left most likely.
Populists: I think also centrist, but more right leaning. Maybe towards Right Libertarianism. The party is very diverse so it’s hard to tell.
If I was a senator in star wars I would be senator of laanex, which is primarily a city covered planet with forests and rivers just outside the urban areas I would be a human make senator of 28 and I'd be a member of the delegation of 2000 and be a heavy supporter of the rebel alliance
Edit: I made laanex up incase you're searching the planet up
Fictional politics is far more interesting than real life politics
ОтветитьI feel like both, but if I have to choose 1, it would be faction
ОтветитьI'm somewhere in the middle. I'm more Centrist, but also I agree kind of with Populists about independence.
ОтветитьI hate that the Techno Union isn't made up of DJ's dedicated to techno music
ОтветитьHere are the factions I would be apart of and/or support to a degree: Rim Faction, Loyalists Committee, Militarist faction (Only support, when it becomes clear that war is unavoidable), Delegation of 2000, and if I were in the New Republic Senate I would most likely be independent because both the Centrists and the Populists have good policies, however I would lean toward the populists. In regards to the factions I align with prior to the sequal era, it's pretty self explanatory. However for the sequel era, this is my thought process. You can have a more connected galaxy and strong central government while also allowing more free trade and autonomy amongst worlds. In fact, both are the only way a Galaxy spanning government like there is typically in Star Wars can function correctly. If we are talking about real world politics and the domestic policy of individual nations, then I am 100% on board with centrist like policies, however this is not the case in Star Wars. Trying to do only what the Centrists wish to do will lead to an ineffective government because what they seek to do is kind of impossible on a galaxy wide scale without causing problems, and doing what the more extreme of the populists wish to do would only lead to more conflict and an overall weaker and less stable galaxy. Now you can make the argument that I should be an independent during the time of the Galactic Republic too and while both parties in both eras are kind of similar in terms of dynamic, the sheer elitism of the Core faction and their policies really bothers me. And while the mega corporations aligning with the Rim Faction isn't thrilling either, ideologically I'm more left wing irl and the Rim Faction's core beliefs and policies resonate with me more.
Ответить😎
ОтветитьThe independence faction of the Populists sounds the best. The republic is total bs.
ОтветитьI think the ones wanting independence for all the planets had a great point.
ОтветитьI would be apart of the Core Faction and the Centrist's Neo-Empire Faction.
Ответитьi would support the rim faction and the populists
ОтветитьWhat about the Droid Party attack on the Wookies?
Ответитьno communist? no neoliberals? no galactic warmings deniers? no religious nuts? so child like no boring...
ОтветитьRim Faction, Delegation of 2000, & the Direct-Democracy Populists Faction
ОтветитьKi-Adi-Mundi be like:
“But what about the p a r t i d o r e v o l u c i o n a r i o i n s t i t u c i o n a l ??
My allegiance would probably be to the republic to democracy
ОтветитьWonder if term limits are a thing in the Galaxy far away, or are they living under a government ran by cognitively impaired geriatrics like we are in real life?
ОтветитьIt's funny how Lucas didn't forget to have the libertarians support the fascist government and even elect its leader - Palpatine.
ОтветитьI am for the rim faction, the loyalist commitee and the delagation of 2000 and the populists
Ответитьjar jar sinks opposes palpatine gaining power....
who gave it to him in the first place?
This would be a good political thriller spin off with a senator doing everything to convince the New Republic Senate to help Leia against the First Order and win the election, only for Starkiller Base to fire.
ОтветитьAnything disney made that takes place after rotj is non cannon for me
ОтветитьWhen people say they dislike politics in Star Wars, what they actually mean is they dislike any reminder of politics they disagree with.
Or they're bigots.
Sorry for the audio hiccups and poor quality in some parts of the video, I plan to look into new programs and possibly get new equipment so that doesn't happen again.
