What did this guy, Ahmed Pasha, thought? The ottoman empire under Suleiman was probably the most powerful country in the world. You cannot grab the most important province, egypt, and declare yourself sultan?
If someones wants to do that, one need an army which was more powerful than that from the ottoman empire. One guy who managed that was Muhammad Ali Pasha. But he was clever: He still accept the sultan of the ottoman empire as his boss, but in fact he rule egypt like an independent country.

The Eyalet of Egypt is the richest Eyalet of The Empire, without Egypt, the Ottoman Dynasty could never have had so much money and wheat to maintain their vast empire.
