Not a contradiction, Goku said he was training to unlock SS4, not that he had achieved it yet. Also could just be another time line split, the Goku from Super is not the same Goku from Daima.

What if Goku just couldn’t use it because of the fact he doesn't have magic and Neva actually just gave Goku the magic he needed to unlock the transformation. Which is why when Goku was in his adult form he was able to basically immediately go into Ssj4 Without a problem. After all we always knew that super Saiyan 4 had some mystical properties.🤔

Also, Vegeta said he’s been training to unlock SSJ3.
In Daima, he looks like he can control that.
So he could’ve used that at any time in Super.

Here's what I think. I still think Neva was the reason for supper Saiyan 4 but Goku just thinks It was his training and some power that Neva gave him but he really isn't able to transform into it without Neva's help

Honestly, if we had to choose between the continuity of Super or Daima, then Daima wins it for me.
Although we got Frieza back, stronger than ever, in Super and that's a HUGE plus for me, Daima just tells a much better overall story, has much cleaner and better fights and the new characters are more interesting and give that old-school OG Dragonball vibe back that was so dearly missed since the days of late DBZ.
Plus, SSJ4 is honestly a LOT more appealing than SSJ God or Blue, and yes, to me also UI.

My head canon is SS4 was too great of a transformation for Goku to handle & master so maybe that’s why he sticks with 3 & says 3 is his final form cause SS3 is more tolerable form to handle.

In my opinion, dragob ball and dbz are the main story, and GT, super, and daima are all separate sequels to the original work. Its kinda like the tenchi continuity.

To say it “ruined dragon ball super” is quite a stretch. They can easily fit it into the canon. Kinda messed up that it was one of Akira Toriyama’s last work to honestly say that.

Y’all are overthinking it I promise, we literally WATCHED Neva give him the power boost for him to access the form. The same power boost we saw him give to Tamagami 2. The boost is temporary, we saw that. A lot of people are taking Goku literal because he says he didn’t think he could pull it off means he didn’t think he could access the form yet. And he couldn’t it was Neva’s magic lol dang they need to make a manga adaptation explaining this so everyone can stop stressing canon lol

All they had to do was say that neva gave Goku the power up and that it was temporary and we would be satisfied.

“Training to unlock super saiyan 4” does not equal to “I have unlocked Super Saiyan 4 after training”

Goku is only confirming to try to reach higher levels, never did he say he finally reached it on his own

And in the fight with Beerus, saying “This is my current strongest form” really means it’s his strongest form, because he hasn’t yet broken through with the training to unlock Super Saiyan 4 yet!

There is no contradiction there

On one hand, they don't have to be connected to that degree. On the other, Goku told Beerus that SS3 was his strongest form "right now." Not the strongest form he'd ever used. Since he was training to use SS4 and hadn't managed to push it all the way there, then got a boost from Neva, maybe Goku couldn't access it by himself even by the time Super started. He kept training, but he didn't reawaken that power before facing Beerus. Then he got SSG and suddenly SS4 wasn't really necessary anymore (and/or he STILL couldn't reawaken that form even after training with Whis, could be that SS4 just requires more than raw power to awaken in Daima/Super). The bigger problem was Vegeta not using SS3 against Beerus, but maybe it was just too much of a stamina burner and he wanted to draw the fight out as long as possible (going for a more defensive approach rather than trying to "glass canon" a destroyer).

We'll so was ssg and ssb... so that would mean in super 4 wouldn't be his strongest.... ive noticed so far they dont even show or mention beerus or whis... cuz diama happens after the whole buu thing a little ways... before all of super. They dont even know about ssg yet

Everyone is dumb the reason goku says that ssj3 is his FP is because super was created before daima 😂
