Hi try to update my iPad but it freezes how do you stop that?

My iPad says the OS 17.7.6 is ready to be installed. First it said I needed more space. So I deleted all my APPs (Temporary). Now in the middle of the installation or download, whatever it’s doing 🤷‍♀️, it says there was a problem and update was not installed. It doesn’t tell me what the problem is. I’ve tried a few times, with my iPad plugged in and 100% battery, even deleting the partial downloads in between. Nothing!! I wouldn’t normally care, but now I can no longer pay certain bills online without the latest iOS version… now what? Can anyone help?
