About half of those breeds I've never seen in the field. Great list for the dog park but I'll stick with Brittany's.

Brittany and the GSPs are the best!

When we think of pointing Dogs breeds. We think of them like Chevy and ford or Dodge. That said when we think of that we thing English pointers, English setter, American Brittany’s lol .

No Standard Poodle?

I've had a string of German Shorthairs and loved them. The last four dogs I've owned have been Brittany Spaniels, which are almost GSPs in a different body. These two breeds compete for top championships in upland bird dog trials most years. Both are versatile and can be used for different kinds of hunting or other use, although the Britt is hopeless as a guard dog--he loves everyone. I've read that the GSP can be taught to guard the house and has been used in the Army (although I never saw one in my years of Army service). All i all, I like your choices.

Guess it's because this is US based and they aren't popular breeds over there but Springers and Cockers, together with Labs would probably make the top 3 over here in the UK

Zeke, #7 is not the Deutscher Drahthaar. I learned about this versatile breed by scrolling through the comments. The wire haired pointer does not follow the VDD Standard. You also have Jagdterrier as well. Your videos are cool but please work with Your subscribers and do your homework.

Zeke so glad you included the GWP. Here in Australia the Vizsla in becoming very popular for samber deer. However the GWP would have to be a great all round hunter and on sambar deer they have been second to none! For stalking with a gundog the GWP makes for a great companion. Thanks for sharing!

Where is the Springer spaniel best dog for flushing and retrieving land and water and the most loyal dog to be found so that is why they are definitely the number one hunter

100% agree with the last two. Everyone’s got their own opinions on the others. However, I think it’s misleading to say that a GSP isn’t suited for a novice trainer. No dog is good untrained. GSPs have energy, but they’re also lapdogs. I’ve been around hundreds of untrained gsps, they’re butterballs, melt in your lap and just want to lay next to you. They’re by no means mean or aggressive like a lot of untrained Weimaraners and Chesapeake bay retrievers can be. Obviously there’s exceptions, but they’re exceptions.

Pretty good, I disagree a small amount on a couple of your conclusions.
Weimariener- the few I've trained showed the need for an experienced Trainer, and very early training.
Chessie's are a bit harder to train than Labs, however I have had Two that would lock up on point like an English pointer, about 60% of the time. They can be very protective and territorial.
I've had three exceptional Labs over the years. Labs are so easy to train if one follows well written books like, Gun dog, Game dog,... "Wolters" wrote. Even a novice can produce a great hunting companion.
The younger you teach a pup to swim the better, I let their Mothers teach them in a small slow stream, before selling any of them. Throwing a pup into water is the worst thing an owner can do, that can ruin a dog from loving the water.

what about the bloodhound ?

Chesapeake bay retriever, easy to train, smart, I have one that locks up on point about half the birds he finds, Pheasant and Chukkar.

I'd take weims and goldens off for the simple fact that it can be hard to find field-bred dogs. I'd replace them with the Pointer and the Brittany.

Strange you never see blue heelers on these lists! I have a blue heeler trained for waterfowl and hes unbelievably good, have seen the guy dive to grab a winged goose by the neck and drag it back to shore!

Weims and goldens are typically family pets. Very rare to find these dogs with a superb hunting bloodline

Wonderful list. We just lost our lab Bubba. Only breed missing is Brittany they are great dogs.
