It's funny you just did this vid cause I been thinking about painting mines wrinkle black as well. It would have been sick if you would have taped off the weld.

You think it would work on my chamber pipe for my moped the headand i have 33 carb with an oko big black manifold but the black paint came off then
I buffed it like glassbut want it back black.....so it was the exhaust pipe, head, and the manifold,... Thiscis off an Af18 honda dio with a 54mm 125cc fully ported 52.6 stroker motor

would these same steps work for a hobda h23a manifold

I painted mine wrinkled black too just to match my valve cover not knowing I would lower temp. So good to know

why didn't you grind the weld down. I would of thought you would have chamfered the metal before welding so that it had decent penetration once made flush.

Would it be ok to bake the part in a kitchen oven? The wife would go mad if her cakes come out smelling of wrinkle paint.

Same process goes for the valve cover?

You should sand the letter pack to polish with a sanding block like your Valve cover... Also why was the intake cut open?

How many coats of paint did you apply? Did you use up both cans of paint ?

will this work for a 13 b intake manifold on an fd rx7

great work on the intake. I tried using this paint on a round sphere weighted shift knob and it now it has these large flaps of paint on it. it is not even all the way around. can this be fixed ? Do i need to strip it off and try again. Help, I appreciate any advice to get it right. Thanks , Joseph

350F seems low temp for engine parts. I noticed you didn't use a primer...not necessary? Also Is this paint resistant to brake fluid, oil & gas? Thanks for your reply.

Is baking it a must? i dont really have an oven to bake it in lol. Can I go over it with a heatgun or something?

i just tried this with rustoleum's version. the stuff is awful

dumb question, I just finished spraying my IM but I masked off the TB since I could not remove it for the life of me, would it be safe to have the map and TPs sensor in the oven for 4 hours? I could not find their heat tolerance online.

Try using a file lightly on the masking tape, it comes out perfect. ;-)

Nice work Brother, how many coats did you use? Just curious, why bake 4 hours? The VHT site says to cure paint at 200*F for 20 minutes. Thanks for the video.

How long did you wait after painting before you put in the oven?

Can you post your source for the proof of black paint radiating heat from the metal? Black paint would absorb more solar radiation if exposed to sunlight but I cannot see how it would pull heat from something it is covering.

You need to study thermodynamics for the real facts on why black is used. Clue, its not the wrinkles in the paint.

Do u think this can be used on a couch? I'm trying to replicate vinayl and this looks like the closest thing. I also am hoping once sprayed it wouldn't rub off or crack if sat on.

Did you neutralize or rinse the brake cleaner off a certain way before painting? Or did I miss something...

Always use non-chlorinated brake clean if cleaning parts to be painted

Did it wrinkle before you baked? I'm painting something that doesn't fit in an oven, and I'm having trouble getting it to wrinkle.

Looks good! Only thing I'd add is to scuff the whole surface you're going to paint with red scotch Brite pads. Will just help with adhesion.

What if I just let it air out once painted with the wrinkle paint??? Also my project is on a keep Cherokee 4.0 so the exhaust manifold is literally under my intake manifold… will this melt it???
