Elon is an extreme example of someone with Autism. He has a grossly asymmetrical intelligence. Very high IQ, very low EQ. Is there an urgent (market) need for self-driving cars!? Does it make sense to build expensive technology to particularly replace low-cost labour for driving taxis (i.e. often first generation migrants)? I always understood that replacing qualified (expensive) human labour is targeted by automation or digitization in order to make sense and pay off. As for Tesla, the company has lost its (time) advantage over EV competitors, which are throwing lots of small and mid-sized models into the market (even Volkswagen has presented models between 20 to 25,000 Euros), while Tesla wasted time and ressources on a fun car (niche market). There does not seem to be serious product development (meeting actual market demand!) due to all focus on "Robotaxi" or earlier promises (Roadster; upfront payments of up to 50,000 USD collected from eight (!) years ago - with no fixed delivery date still). Also, "human" like robots are shown, typing (!) on keyboards to "assist" their owners (nota bene: take a look at purchasing power development for most US Americans in order to judge about such kinds of products and their market!). Meanwhile, car production plants need volumne products (especially when Tesla has got some 40% debt finance in its balance sheet) - or you have to decide remaining a small (nice) supplier; Mercedes just had to realise that contradicion when its new CEO had propagaed to "re-focus on luxury" (...but with giant production capacities as baggage!).
Königsegg sells super sports cars in tiny amounts since 1994 - priced in the region of millions of Euros; a handy example that nice manufacturers work profitably (i.e. without carbon credit subsidies) - if their concept makes sense. Does it for Tesla?

We have to understand that stock prices are based not just on the PE ratio but mainly on how much the public wants to encourage the company to sell and make revenue. It's about money used to encourage growth. The public now don't want growth. They want shrinkage to oblivion, so PE ratio is irrelevant. Tesla going bankrupt would lead to public celebration
