South American Mahogany is the same species as Honduran Mahogany or Tropical Mahogany. Basically what Gibson (and other manufacturers all the way until the last decade)used on everything. There are actually three different sources for South American/Tropical mahogany, Cuban(not yet mentioned), is one other name and actually notably different, but still of the same species. James’ original guitar is actually African mahogany (as related to me by Ken) with Chechen top.

Ken accepts orders only during the first 2 months of the year. I reached out to him in mid Feb, and that's when I came to know. Guess my timing was perfect. Now it's gonna be an ardous wait for 3 years

what people don't understand is Ken makes Basses ...some of the finest in the world period.

That's a replica of James's first Ken Lawrence Explorer. The only difference between that guitar and the original, is he used EMG60 and EMG81 until around 2009. James said it had the greatest "clean-tone" he's ever played.

James has six of these , The first one like in video was was in 1996 , Second in 2003 flaming sun inlays , Third a flying V given to him as a gift by someone around 2010?, Fourth a double neck one not sure of year, Fifth a les paul type body one and sixth one made of wood from there old garage they used to jam in to write Ride and Puppets album in .
I have one of the tribal inlays one, It is number 2XX , Very lucky to have

I’ve been lucky enough to play James’s Ken Lawrence (Flaming Sun) and it’s an absolute work of art. I’ve also been out to Ken’s shop in Eureka CA and got to spend sometime with the man himself, an artist and a gentleman.

hi i am german and i know mr diezel he told me once he made several amps for JH that his main setup is the vh4 and a triaxis in a 30 tri. and 70 vh4 blend( for distorted tones) from the 2000 s on that was he told him
