EPRS are in the microwave range, and I made all sorts for them from circuit boards to complex wave guide paths, and very precise stuff to very close tolerance, like heating and cooling systems to manipulate the samples between liquid nitrogen cooled to heated to just shy of where the glass sample containers could handle... I sure had fun doing it! My work can be found in universities all over the world, including MIT, Princeton, and Cal Tech, UIC, and other labs like Firmilab, Max Plank institute, CERN and then some, but also in medical research institutions such as the mayo clinic, Cancer Research Centers of America, as well as for industry, so Exon Mobile, and others who did material research. Those things were not cheep $70,000 and up depending on wanted features and accessories.

Thank goodness I was a natural skeptic by birth, and no attempts to indoctrinate me ever worked, but man did I go nuts when it came to science and engineering!🤓 When my friends sat in front of the TV watching cartoons, I was watching PBS, BBC, NPR, National geographic... I also like shows like "Ancient Aliens, because to me that was comedy gold!😂

Reality is exponentially more fascinating🤯 than any religious doctrine🤤, which to me were also fascinating in the study of odd human behavior and just how far some peoples beliefs will travel into the utterly absurd. I got that job with a mere degree as an industrial electrician, for impressing the head engineer in an interview who was looking for someone who could write documentation like manuals..., but when he realized language wasn't my strong suit, but rather the engineering and hand craft, he decides to hire himself an assistant, and get someone else to do the writing. I did study Electrical engineering for a few months in Germany, but got deported back to the US (long story) and couldn't afford college here, and my life got more and more difficult too over time, due to an undiegnosed immune system disease; The only thing rarely in pain was my head, but I had way too many strange and unexplained problems for my immune system attacking all sorts of parts of my own body, especially my stomach and bowels, and was in pain pretty much every single day of my life until age 45, to where I self diagnosed it for lack of health care, and found although no cure, treatment was a mere change in diet.😮

So in a way one can "Do your own research", but that comes in the form of actually reading what real and dedicated professionals published, doing real math and the like, not perusing the internet in confirmation bias! It's called didactic studying, and anyone can dig into it for free, because along with all of the trash online, there is a wealth of excellent scientific knowledge to be had, as long as you are diligent to check the merits of the sources.🧐

This was a great show!!! I love both Aron and Forrest, and even if Forrest has a masters and then some, Aron has shown that even at his age one can earn a degree and have an incredible understanding far beyond his academic education, and just like him, I too am 62 years old, have a full head of long hair, and learned a crap load more than I could have afforded in the US, where it's "Pay to play" in the world of academics! So he ain't no slouch, and a force to be reckoned with! You just have to put in the effort, and aim for something you love to dig deeper into, and you should do pretty good.

I can't imagine studying to get a degree in something because it's good money over something you can dig with all your heart, and in doing so not be as good as you could be for it. Monetary value although kind of a necessity in a world that puts money above all is still not as gratifying as doing that which you love, so don't be fooled by it, as the only way it will change, and the world become a better place for it, is not to cater to just money for loss of happiness, but to become the best you can be in that which moves you, and be respected for that, and respected both of these cats are!

As an ex Mormon, I heard AJ's opening comments and thought, "well that sure sounds like testimony meeting!" You can leave the church, but you still bring so much of it with you. I've had quite a few of those "apostimony" moments where I realize just how amazing people in the post-religion community are and how great it is to be free from the indoctrination and shame that religion imprinted on me. You're doing just great AJ! Keep putting one foot in front of the other and being the best person you can be. Your kids will be fine because it is clear that you care. They will see that. I've purposefully avoided trying to teach my kids to be atheist since leaving the church 3 years ago. I've gone out of my way to listen to the thousands of hours of shows like this and channels like Aron Ra's and Forrest's on headphones so that it isn't overheard, and to avoid (mostly successfully) bad mouthing the church in front of them, and all three (15, 17, 18) have on their own realized that it is garbage. I've just tried to show them that not only am I still a good person, but I'm actually a better, more loving and accepting person.

I'm much more of an existentialist. that's because I understand that most Humans, particularly men, crave purpose. It's one of the reasons why people who retire tend to decline in health so quickly. It's because they lose their purpose and fulfillment that their career gave them. Because of that, I tend to subscribe to the theory that life has whatever purpose you decide to give to it. This gives people hope that there is a goal to be found , and purpose in finding and achieving that goal. It also lets them know that they can have more than one purpose. They can achieve more than one goal. They can find happiness, meaning, and fulfillment in more than one way. I don't believe I was BORN for any particular reason, other than that two people got high and decided to fuck. But that now that i'm here, I can choose to find meaning in the love that I give my two daughters, my wife, my brother, my friends. My life means something to me, because it means something to them and that's all I need.

Please bring on Clint! Love him. He's who I point to for any of my family/friends who don't believe in evolution.
