For future reference, while I was working for Hall & Co in the 60s and 70s, there were two occasions when we had lorries and machines working all night to plug a breach in the shingle bank at the end of Channel View Road,. Of course, the sea defences have been raised and strengthened since then, and it is unlikely to happen again until sea level has risen much higher, and we are unlikely to see that.
