Is not Earth 🌍 is another planet name Arakis or Dune, all the different Houses live in different planets in the universe
ОтветитьRead the damn books, Watch all the movies, try again.
ОтветитьIt was a Full Price rating for me!!!
ОтветитьReview Children of Dune, the one with James McAvoy
ОтветитьDamn. This is the first time in a long time that my boys are off on a review. It's almost as if they were watching a different movie and expecting something else... This is surprising.
ОтветитьFrankly, the story and characters are lacking in these Dune movies because they lack in the BOOKS. Dune is not a masterpiece for its dialogue or character building. It's a masterpiece for its world building and over-arching themes. The dialogue in the novel is atrocious.
ОтветитьDenis stretched the movie out to put his Montreal childhood fears of skin head goths and Black immigrants to phuq over Frank Herbert's novel.
There was no racial shyt with the Fremen of Black folks in the book other then Thufir Hawat which he phuqed up too.
That shyt about Black folks hollerinng about Jamis was bullshyt he put in there.
Feyd Ruthau wasn't a reject from Hellraiser...he was a full fleshed out character.
And the North South shyt among the Fremen was bullshyt.
He relied on the Lynch shyt too much with the oil baths not in the book and the talking Fetus.
That racial shyt phuqed the movie.
The Emperor was not a decrepit old fart.
And how they did Jamis...there was a real funeral not just " Water Boy let's get yo waaaateeeer"
This movie was awesome! I saw it last night. Korey nitpicked TF out of this movie. lol Damn... What more do you want? I'm going to see it again on Sunday.
Ответитьvillenuve being focused on visuals and sound does not necessarily menas he doesnt appreciate story liike that.. visuals and sound STILL tell the story.. he kinda right that cinema revolves around that, its just his preference.. plus there was a good bit of dialog in the movie, Rebecca fergusson talking to the child, all the freement chicchat, the emperor input..
ОтветитьHonestly double toasted isnt near as good in their reviews as they were during spill... while they definitely added comedy during the reviews like always, they were much more precise and informative as opposed to now caring more about being funny. And it leads to errors in what theyre talking about
ОтветитьFinally saw Dune: Part 2 with my sister and her boyfriend, sadly I fought off a sinus infection opening weekend
I definitely enjoyed this a lot more than the previous film; I liked more of the politics involved, the battle scenes especially toward the end, and the new supporting characters
Denis Villeneuve still makes a film full of grand scope and scale with some top caliber actors
This one is 10 minutes longer and there’s still some stuff to get through plus the villains come off very one-dimensional but they do raise the stakes a lot more
The costumes, the sets, the designs, and even the sound mixing is excellent putting you completely in this established world
It’s got plenty of sci-fi allegory relating to our world; power and politics can be twisted into religion and control
This asks a lot of questions not easily answered: is faith merely another resource to be exploited, is it real tapping into the true source of well of sustenance and knowledge, is it better to rely on the rules of the heart when the heart isn’t meant to rule, is it better to plan than to hope, a leader dying only makes religion flourish, maybe it’s crucial to convert non-believers for the cause or power, maybe we shouldn’t underestimate the power of faith
Paul is very much more active this time around being a double edge sword: some view him as a god others a false prophet, he works very well with Zendaya as Chani, love Javier Bardem being the source of keeping the faith, and Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha comes across as appropriately psychotic
Part 2 is more about the stability of two warring sides while keeping the religious aspect alive in the constant struggle to maintain power over precious resources of value
Part 3 is definitely on the horizon to conclude this giant story and with Denis Villeneuve at the helm he might just succeed making this a solid adaptation
Really liked the movie.
It is like an epic version of Life of Brian.
I think my least favorite aspect of Dune was the portrayal of the Emperor.
The Emperor is a cold heartless narcistic egotistical megalomaniac and he is still written that way in this movie, but the way he is portrayed it is almost like they are trying to make him sympathetic.
He is constantly looking sad, hunched over, frail and wearing baggy clothing that looks like a medieval nightdress. The opening almost makes it seems like he is remorseful for the destruction of house Atreides.
This is one of the few times where the Lynch version actually did a better job from both the actor, writing and even the set design to portray the Emperor. Once he comes down with his ship and sets up a temporary military base (the pyramid) his throne room in the lynch version is ridiculously lavish and grand with paintings, gold and intricate designs that don't look like it belongs on Dune, while in this movie the throne room is a relatively small minimalistic throne room with a stone throne that looks uncomfortable to sit on, especially when he sits on it he is still wearing his white pajamas robes.
We needed a Tywin Lannister style portrayal of the character for the Emperor, not what outside of his dialog seemed like a fragile old humble man.
Ah man, I sent my friends a text message saying--and I'll get killed for this probably--that Avatar and Dune are the same movie, and one is made for people who like fairies and Disney and the other is made for fans of Star Trek and H.R. Geiger.
ОтветитьThis review was terrible. Y’all don’t get it
ОтветитьYou guys needed Quinn to help y'all understand all of this.
Shout out to Quinn's Ideas.
I can respect well thought-out differing opinions. I can't respect easily remediable ignorance. "Arrakis is Earth." "Paul doesn't show emotions." Etc. I'll just tell you to watch the film more carefully and do a quick search before spewing off.
ОтветитьDune is NOT Earth! This is set way in the future, and Earth is long gone.
ОтветитьI'd like to see these Z.Snyders of the world who need 300 mil. to make something, watch Dune and tell us WTF were they doing with all that cash?
ОтветитьNah, "bland, cliche killing their own men typa villains" Bautista is loosing control in more ways then one, the spooky MF on the other hand got to be colder then the cliche villains, like killing the guy, and before he dies the MF knows he'll be fed to his lovers, like DAMN.
ОтветитьWas dreading seeing this movie because i just didnt care...but just finished watching it and BOY i need part 3
Going back to watch part 1 and might even check out the OG for the funsies. Dope movie
fun fact the black and white scene was shot in infrared to give it that shadowless effect
ОтветитьThere's something about the black and white scenes that involves filming either pure or mixed infrared wavelength of light. It does look really cool!
Ответитьwhen it comes to Dune, Like 40K people need to Stop thinking in terms of Heros and Villans.
ОтветитьI loved it. Cant wait for 3.
ОтветитьThere is a decent amount of dialogue here. I think Denis just has it in the lower totem pole.
ОтветитьThat was an elite transition into the sponsored ad….lmao!
ОтветитьI like how the comments are tearing DT up even though they gave the movie Full Price.
ОтветитьDo they not have access to Dolby Cinema theaters? It's the best way to watch the film.
Ответить"Everyone in house Harkonnen is terrible..." Well Paul is Harkonnen Lady Jessica is the daughter of the Baron
I think the revelation that Paul is Harkonnen while showimg the Harkonnens as cartoon villains is the point of making them seem like the villians when is reality Atreides also did evil stuff to their house the whole thing is wicked in the Dune world
Yeah arrakis is no where near to being Earth haha😂
Ответитьsomething i have to vastly disagree with other fans of the book on is that villeneuve was absolutely not the right choice to direct. his sensibilities are just way too dry to do justice for the source material. part of the reason the book is so long is the richness given to the dialogue and characters, and with that quote yall shared it's no wonder why that aspect is so lacking in these. what a shame. to me these just arent the definitive adaptation that i was looking forward to, just another experiment like lynch and the syfy miniseries. hopefully we get a dune film within our lifetimes that lives up to the source material.
ОтветитьDune Part 2 didn’t deserve this review
ОтветитьNot everyone is going to like the Dune movies, and that's ok. It's very complex source material, lot's of themes, relationships, and conflicting motivations to keep track of. To some of us, we're in bliss getting lost in a such a rich and expansive world, but others might just want something more easy to follow and be entertained by, no judgement at all. Some fan tribes can be a bit elitist when it comes to not liking something. I think where many of us draw the line is when people say the story is about one thing and proceed to judge the film, author, director, actors and/or fans, etc. on a misunderstanding of the storyline. Other than that, folks have every right to not enjoy the movies.
ОтветитьPeople you realize that martin korey anf julian enjoyed the movie, praised the movie and gave an unanimous full price? Why thw hate?
ОтветитьPart2 is slightly better but still I've seen better. Nothing beats the creator 🤷🏽♂️💯
ОтветитьBones and all lol
ОтветитьArrakis isn’t earth bro
ОтветитьWatch the Scifi Channel Miniseries. Its the only Dune adaptation that actually is pretty much 100 to the book. Not completely, but yeah. It captures the story characters and some of the looks more then either films. Second would be David Lynch's Dune. If you really want to know what Arrakis looked like thats the only movie that captured it, somewhat with the miniseries, but it is the only one out of the 3 that truly gets what the sandworms look like and the scale.
ОтветитьIt's not just House Harkonnen -- all the characters in this visually gorgeous but intellectually barren dumpster fire are flat, one-note, and boring (and the leads are inauthentic and wooden). Dune Part 2 gives us the "Feelies" right out of Brave New World -- cinema for illiterates.
ОтветитьThe film was exactly as expected after hearing all the positive reviews from wh⚪️ males on YT. Wh⚪️ males centred as the hero and filled to the brim with wh⚪️ saviourism 🙄
ОтветитьWhy do screenwriters think a army would still follow a leader killing their men for mistakes 😂😂 but real talk i absolutely adore director but the 1st one was so goddam boring i cant sit through 3 more hours of this
Ответить"muslims in space", or at least a jingoist version of "muslims" has been the conceit of much american scifi, imo.
ОтветитьVery boring and took me a couple of sit downs to finish
ОтветитьFound the Harkonnens are a bit one dimensional...they lack dynamic, maybe by design to showcase the Feyd Rautha character who seemed to be the only one with ability and ambition. With the Baron playing such a huge role in Part 1 and him eventually getting killed off I understand him getting toned down, but it was a waste of Stellan Skarsgård.
I'm not convinced of Zendaya being some hardcore Fremen warrior, she's very tiny, and aside from her fierce gazes, really doesn't instill much fear, but whatever she's Paul's love interest - and I like their romance.
Stilgar drives the movie forward with his undying belief in Paul - a hype man - but a true believer. He's the embodiment of what Paul is afraid of creating...mindless followers hell bent on killing for a 'cause'.
Visually, FANTASTIC. I still can't get over the 4 big scenes. 1) The opening red dune battle, with the anti-gravity floaty devices used by the Harkonnens, amazing intro to the ground war. 2) Paul's first worm ride - epic sound! 3) Paul's awakening after drinking the Water of Life - his speech and spectacle in the ring among all the Fremen worshippers - he ignites the Holy War without hesitation. 4) The final battle vs. The Emperor with the worms and all the Fremen - incredible.
Walken - completely under-written, but seems clear the Florence Pugh character is going to be a huge player.
Arrakis is actually Pluto after it got kicked out of the planet club, went off to spend some time in the sun and then hit the gym for 20,000 years, got worms in the process and then came back for revenge.
Ответить😎🙏💯
ОтветитьIt was a long boring movie with a lil knife fight (again) at the end loool. I grimaced as much as that woke Challengers thot bsh, Zendaya, did in this movie
ОтветитьI like less (or no) dialogue in movies. It's one of the main problems with the Star Wars prequels in which there's way too much awful dialogue in which a scene would have been 200% more effective if they just muted the characters and let it play out visually instead.
Ответить
