I first heard this song when I was but a mere lad of 36 (1998), whilst driving from Melbourne to Sydney, somewhere near the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox (do Google) and I LOVED IT.

The song. The dog is overrated.

That canine carving was the next rest stop, where I stopped to ring Triple J in Sydney to ask the title of the song, included in a block of "40 MINUTES UNINTERRRRRUPTED, ON TRIPLE JAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

What a crock (we did 'em on KRock!). There is NOTHING uninterrupted about them!

You usually get one or two talk breaks in the AD-FREE BLOCK OF MUSIC, over the intro to a song of course (you can't interrupt the music - good title for a song, if only it scanned)... "... and this 40 minutes uninterrupted is BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE CLIENT, at 48 AND 52 Uninterrupted Drive, as 40 minutes uninterrupted continues.... on Trippppppppple Jayyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

Sure sounded like an ad to me.

And, most of the time now (not that I listen to music stations a lot, except in times like these when talk and news makes driving difficult, due to all the tears ) there will be a phone calls between two of the uninterrupted songs from Desperate Doras and Dicks...

DJ: "We're in the middle of 40 MINUTES UNINTERRUPTED ON TRIPLLLLLE JAAAAAAAAY, HI, WHO'S that?"
DD: "Aggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I got on! I got ON! Yaaaaaaayyyyyyy!
DJ: "Whoah! ha ha ha, hang on now, hang on ha ha, who IS this?
DD: "Oh it's Dick, I'm calling for the Wiggles tickets?
DJ: "Oh, sorry maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate! You've got to wait for the CUE TO CALL!
DD: oh
DJ: "Silly Dick, oh well, never mind mate, we'll do it at the top of the hour. That's right! Tickets for The Wiggles Wiggle NEW Bits It's Not JUST for Kids Anymore Tour coming up soon on Triple Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, where everyone's a winah! Back to 40 minutes uniniterrrrrrrruptid"

(I was thinking it must have been a LONG song intro to get all that in, but I'm pretty sure they use a special bed for it. A music bed, that is, not an actual bed, which is what you wish for on stations that really DON'T interrupt and you do NOTHING for 40 minutes except listen to the same songs you heard two days ago and will hear in two days hence (but in a different order, for variety, yay!)

Talking over the intro to a song (big in a radio hero's bag of tricks) is a radio cliche fraught with danger, for, should one stumble, pause and CRASH THE VOCAL, super-happy-with-himself-DJ goes from hero to zero.

I did ring Triple J again 18 years later, to ask their guest, Scotty Auks, a question.

Weird I thought I heard this near the Tuckerbox. I was just reading something I wrote in the comments section of the YouTube page for 'Heavy Heart' a comment I forgot I'd made, same story but different venue. According to myself, I didn't stop at the Tuckerbox, but in Yass, near the border of NSW and Canberra, much further along.

I know I did SOMETHING interesting at that Tuckerbox stop,...... oh, yeah!

Never mind.

If you haven't heard the original "Heavy Heart" by You Am I, check it out. You'll quickly forget this one.

(If you did it the other way around, sorry!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coEAjgBRwOs
