The car wasn't trying to do wheelies, it was trying to jump free of it's restraints. With 2300+ foot-pounds of torque, the car was still pushing it's frame forward and the only reason the front went into the air was because it was restrained in one place. Go watch old MOPAR at a dragstrip launch, almost every time one launched the passenger side front wheel would always twist up into the air because of the cars raw torque.
