Very informative and lot of learning. Thank you both.
Ответитьthe start scene is amazing, describes my Django in every bit.
ОтветитьWow. So informative. I never knew. Thanks. Both my GS pups now 8 months would never get to any level but we love them just the way they are. Terds!! Lol thank you 💜
ОтветитьSo damn good
ОтветитьGreat interview! What is the name of the new e collar from Europe Frank mentioned ? Thank you
ОтветитьI use clickers as well as e collars, depends on what I am teaching . Really enjoyed this. Thanks Robert : )
ОтветитьAWESOME episode thanks for sharing
ОтветитьGreat job !
ОтветитьI loved the interview! Thank you!
ОтветитьFrank Phillips is an expert who loves dogs and works with them in the most humane way possible and he truly understands dogs. Communication is the key! Good tools in the right hands mixed with love and passion will yield excellence. Wonderful interview!
ОтветитьI can't tell you how much I learned from this interview. Wow!
ОтветитьPlease find that study and post it. I'm tired of arguing with positive only people and having them site their ridiculous studies that are likely conducted with incredible bias in non real world applications. And I especially loved hearing the conversation about Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd. I agree, I want a dog that can live with me, not be kenneled 24/7.
ОтветитьThis is so good I’m on my 3rd time viewing it and might go for a 4th! Thanks a mill best weekend educational entertainment ever!
ОтветитьExcellent, incredibly insightful interview 🙌
ОтветитьWhen Frank hits the field nobody says a word.
Ответитьdid you ever find the study?
Ответитьso then the next question is, what is the best ecollar training methods to use?
Ответитьand what do you think about using the tone on the ecollar as the noise for the click vs a separate device that clicks
ОтветитьI train with Frank. He is a great guy. Great teacher. Taught me a lot.
ОтветитьFascinating. One of the best interviews ever! Thank you! (Probably just my iPhone, had a little trouble with the volume. (Low). Easier to turn down, at top volume there is no more). Will be watching this one several times. Excellent interviewee, excellent interviewer.
ОтветитьGreat episode! Please share the study about the retention and stress levels with ecollar, prong collars etc!
ОтветитьWow! So wonderful you're interviewing the big dogs in sport. I love these interviews. Frank & Avi are the bomb! I just started getting into IPO/IPG. Avi was the very first person in ipo that I met and spoke to at WDC a few yrs ago.
(I went as a spectator and volunteer). I didn't know anyone.. didn't even know who AVI was. Imagine being so green and the first person you meet is the biggest og icon of the sport. AVI is funny and has the best stories! I remember being in the hotel bar and Avi yells.. hey everyone this is Dawn she is here alone and new to the ipo and the organization! She knows nothing.. be nice! Laugh so hard!
Quality! Frank Phillips brings so much good sense and heart to the discussion. I love the focus on doing what's best for the dog and giving points for connectivity, not just technique. These sports and high-level training are amazing, but it's so important to remember that the dogs don't have ambition and ego in sport -- they just love to flow and connect with their handlers. Our main job as dog owners should be to work with ALL of what the dog is, not just working them like machines but appreciating them as spirits. Thanks to both of these guys for a great interview.
ОтветитьThers also a 2008 German study on Leerburg thats an interesting read.
Comparison of Stress and Learning Effects of Three Different Training
Can be found googling.
Robert check with Michael Ellis for the report on the effect of verbal vs prong collar vs electric. If I recall properly it was a study in Mexico with Malinois dogs. They measured the cortisol levels to pinpoint the effect on the dog of the 3 correction methods.
ОтветитьMartin Collars are THE best engineered collars ever...most humane. Box collar is ancient technology...
ОтветитьI agree, this interview and the one with Mr Goosby a few months ago are my favorites of this series. Keep it up!
ОтветитьI can say with confidence that as a helper who performed under Frank as a judge, I’ve never had a judge push me further in a trial setting. He helped me really strive for greatness in a Championship that I consider the turning point of n my championship trial journey. Awesome guy
ОтветитьRobert! please link that study for the rest of us :)
Ответитьfirst of all covid never ruined anything but the government ruined everything remember that
ОтветитьMy Malinois is very loving and seeks attention when we have visitors- after she's gotten all the barking out, insisting sometimes. She's a great nap buddy too. She sleeps like a baby.
ОтветитьCliff is beautiful.
ОтветитьLoved this video!!! Would love to see more with top Working dog trainers/competitors like Ivan Balabanov, Bart Bellon, Tim Cutter.
ОтветитьFabulous talk, and Kliff was a Legend👍👍
ОтветитьMy Dutchy is a 14 y old S&R but she is pretty much the same as the Malinois described in the intro truly blessed much respect
ОтветитьThis is sooo awesome!!! Thank you Robert and Frank!!!
ОтветитьCurious how Mals do compared to GSD in the open IGP competition?
ОтветитьThe link is not working, can someone tell me where i can find that study or what`s the name of it!?
ОтветитьFantastic!
ОтветитьWhere can I found the study about the e-collar?
ОтветитьAmazing information!
Ответить"no matter how pissed I get its still the same button" I felt that.
Right now its really hot and so my rottweiler is walking slow and always pulling toward store fronts to try and go inside. Im hot and tired too so I get really annoyed at this and I have to try so hard not to over correct due to my over frustration.
I love hearing and learning different perspectives on training. Great episode!
Ответитьwhy are americans using the german terms ?
ОтветитьI loved listening to Mr Frank Phillips. He brought a lot of knowledge and good sense. I loved the explanation of "the break down in tiny pieces" for the attack out of back transport. Great episode: Thank you Mr Robert
ОтветитьLate to this interview but was really good and informative, glad I came across it. Heard of Frank from my club but never meet the man but understand his accomplishments...seems like a down to earth guy and keeps things in the proper perspective when it comes to interaction with the dog, fairness and clarity is essential!! At the end of the day, it's all about the dog, they give us the opportunity to do this sport! Also, the link is still broken, any updates on a correct one? The comment can't be true unless it can be verified...as we say in the military (retired), "trust but verify". Thank you.
Ответить“You can ruin it but you can’t create it”is so true! Also pertinent to performance horses- great genetics- awesome interview🧬 Thanks R.C.
ОтветитьI had an experience today, I went to my vet to pick up some puppy Giardia meds, and an older lady was there with a tiny carrier, upset, crying softly, she lifted something out of it, the tech said “are you ready, or do you want some more time?” and that was it for me, big grown man, I started crying myself. Reminded me of my two Somali cats (they were short haired, so really Abyssinians) that both had cancer that I had to put each down, I was just wrecked each time. It’s taken me more than a decade to get a dog, now I have a 12 week GSD.
