I was watching that years competition as a joke..or what started as a joke (given the 'theme song[?] became a meme) but when I saw him...I immediately knew this guy was a winner. My jaw had hit the floor. and I made all my friends watch him. XD

Might I also add, a few of his moves were 100% where some hip hop moves these days are from. Not saying him specifically, but you see some of these in more modern dancing.

Isn't it wild to think that many people nowadays would call this gay, but at the time it happened, few would question it? And for good reason, it's a fit man happily dancing and getting exercise. Hell, body builders are fit men expressly focusing on male image, and that's somehow considered EXTRA straight and "macho." He's not doing ballet or dancing to the Village People or doing anything else commonly seen as feminine/homosexual, so why would they have made an accusation? But in today's world, when people are able to be more gay than ever before and homosexuality is being depicted more and more in pop culture, TODAY'S society is going to see this as too flamboyant? We sure went in an odd direction.
