1870 Flobert 22 Gallery Rifle Carnival 6mm single shot

CB caps contain a very tiny amount of powder nothing dangerous for antique rifles

Acquired a double barrel garden gun. Chambered in 6mm and 9mm. Came with and old Carl Zeiss scope. Not sure I’ll shoot it. The sentimental value out ways the chance of damaging.

.22 is just under 5.6mm so it seems a .22 in this rifle would be kinda like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. At any rate I imagine gas can escape past a .22 and it wouldn't be accurate or powerful. Have you ever measured the bore?

Pretty gun. I can shoot low velocity (750 fps) .22's in mine.

Tried a 22lr in mine
No damage was done but the trap door blew open when firing and ejected the shell out. Wont be trying that again.

I had a Flobert Orchard Gun and it looked very much the same as your .22. I think it was around an 8mm shot shell. Interestingly it had the same wood split. My gun was donated to the Lithgow Small Arms Museum in NSW Australia...a wonderful place with a very dedicated volunteer staff.

I have the same gun, i tried a blank .22 with a .22 pellet on it, only my gun doesnt hold the hammer back so i use my thumb to hold it and release it to fire, it works fine like that with 6mm flobert, but the .22 once slamed the hammer back with full force against my thumb, since then im scared of using blanks in this gun or real .22, i wouldnt advise it either

I have some original 6mm flobert ammo but since its so hard to get i load 6mm blanks with .177 pellets glued to the blanks for easier loading/pellet not falling out the barrel.

Note to self, don't let this guy handle your 150 year old rifle. I cringed every time you banged, scraped, and bumped the stock and barrel against that metal table.
