Nihonkiin is probably the association out of East Asia that had budgets and plans for promoting Go outside of Asia (海外への囲碁普及). And used to have budgets to send Go players abroad at least short term. But as their budget shinking, this is one of the first that got cut down. I think most East Asian Go associations are now shifting their budget to focus more on their online-presence and spread Go this way, but they are still miles away from creating enough effect or accessible globally (even the language barriers at least translations would need great effort)

And thanks for Prof Nam Chihyung's brief talk. We need more contents that can bring all kinds of cultural/historical elements to the discussion or Go. Not just playing Go.

Nice to have Prof Nam join the show! The sentence "it's very hard to enjoy Go when your job is Go" reminds me of the quote from Hoshizora no Karasu: "Amateur players play for fun. Professional players play in pain". I guess as amateur players, our job is to enjoy the game and not make it into a painful experience. In this way it will never turn monotonous! Also maybe having a few professional players that you like will help 😆

Great episode! When will it be available as a normal podcast via the RSS feed?

I don't think I totally agree that in Go, someone can ONLY prove something through victory. Not because I lost lots of games, it's because I think doing your best and playing a skillful game despite losing is as valuable as winning. I recently played a game with a friend who got a higher win rate than me, it's weird they made lots of blunders and I'm winning. It's not a satisfying win, it seems they're distracted and did not do their best. It did not prove that I'm a stronger player. Maybe that's also the reason why I like Lee Chang-ho. He always try to be calm even in victory.
