1h02m47s No Joe Kosmo, they won't say that! They will say guidelines were broken and they had reasons why you don't launch during those temperatures. It's not a risk. Its engineers who lay down the rules of what's excepted and what is NOT. The O-rings had criteria which was set and given accordingly. Those lives were lost due to someone not knowing their job and those who knew, yet were ignored from the top ranks to launch anyway. Similarly, the tiles on the shuttle on re-entry...another tragic event due to not following safety protocol or inspection of.

Galileo is the same space probe whose 10 foot antenna refused to open right? I vividly remember JPL losing their minds about that thing. I'm assuming they fixed it.

how did nasa come to this, barely 15 years ago they were good at both space stuff and making great documentaries, now the only thing they are good at is identity politics (oh and they are so afraid of you pointing out their absurdities that they turned off all comments on their new videos lol)

I wish every documentary used music to show the passage of time & allow those of us who lived through different eras to place events in a larger historical context. In this doc, the pop music of the time brings a sense of how different historical events & eras of space exploration fit into the larger culture. One could do that with the modern Olympics, climbing Mt. Everest, and pretty much any historical trajectory since the first recorded music.

NASA SP287 " WHAT MADE APOLLO A SUCCESS ??? "
" of course , the way we got this job done was with meeting , big meetings , little meeting hundreds of meetings !
" the thing we always tried to do in these meetings was to encourage every one no matter how (( shy )) to speak out !!! " hopefully ( but not always ) without being subjected to (( ridicule )) ???

In my opinion , I don't believe we would have lost those two shuttles if the program had been run the way APOLLO was run using the same mission control guys , gene kranz said that after the apollo 1 fire that we will not keep silent if something doesn't seem right , and we will not lose anymore astronauts . And also the shuttle program was pushing the schedule way too fast and the some safety protocols the engineers would pont out were ignored like the o ring failure , they were warned ahead of rim about the danger of launching in weather that cold . Ri.I.P all astronaut heroes. .....
