I’m American and have traveled abroad many times. I’ve shook my head quite a bit at the actions or what comes out of the mouth of my fellow citizens. I’ll be the first to say many of us have no idea or respect about the place we’re visiting.

It’s funny cause Americans go to other countries to visit while when British people go it’s to colonize.

I’m American but I spent a summer working in Hawaii, but even though I grew up in Texas and Oklahoma I had local family ties in Hawaii so I look local to that area. Anyway one late afternoon when I was closing up the surf shop I worked at this rental car drove up skidded to a halt in the gravel and this bright blonde young lady jumps out and asks “ How far to why-a-me-a baay?” I asked her if she was from Oklahoma? She cocked her head to the side and asked “ how’d you knooow?” I kinda laughed to myself, told her it was a lucky guess and that Waimea Bay was just a few miles ahead, they couldn’t miss it. So I totally agree. We are pretty funny to others while on vacation.

Funniest tourists I see are pommies at the beach with socks and sandals on while walking in the sand.😂🤣

On my way to my hotel in Italy, I saw these Americans argue with an Italian waiter who spoke no English. Arguing in English and Italian. Instead of trying to speak Italian, they speak English but slower and louder.
"HELLO? CAN YOU HEAR ME? CAN YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?"

As an Englishman who goes down to London for a day trip every now and then, I see American tourists like this everywhere. They become their own travelling exhibition that is always hilarious to view.

I'm Italian from Bologna. This morning three quite large American tourist were blocking the whole portico for people to move through. They were walking painfully slow to take photos, completely unaware of the queue of angry Italians that had to go to work forming behind them. It was hysterical

I’m South African and can confirm we also enjoy laughing at Americans. But also we can hear you coming from about 4 miles away, cause your so goddam loud.

As an American myself, I agree with the statement that American tourist are funny because we are unintentionally funny most of the time. Because some tourist don't research a country's culture or etiquette before going to said country.

I'm an UBER driver in Porto, Portugal. I drive around through the city quite a lot and pick up a lot of tourists.

But what is so hilarious is the fact that, when I'm driving (whether picking up passengers or not), I can guess almost perfectly who's American and/or English or not.
Canadians usually are quite casual and can't be "uncovered".

Its something about the stance and clothing.

One of them (and I knew IMMEDIATELY she was from the US) got in my car and spoke Spanish to me. The accent was an immediate giveaway. Yes, Portuguese and Spanish derive from Common Latin and if we speak slowly, we can mildly understand each other but they are NOT the same language. I just replied "Desculpe?" (PT for "Excuse me?"). She got SO confused that I laughed 😅😅

A very polite person though and we had a good chat.

I was once in the Salt Mines in Krakow Poland and and American Tourist asked the guide how thick the walls were.

Just to give the idiot Americans some perspective - the Brits (whom the Indians love to hate as their erstwhile colonial masters) ruled over India (both directly under the Crown and indirectly under the East India Company) for some 250 years. DESPITE THAT, tourists from the UK are welcomed and treated pleasantly in all parts of India and Indians often go out of their way to extend them hospitality, whilst Americans are UNIFORMLY hated and spat upon. I wonder why. 😂🇺🇸

everyone made fun of high white socks for the longest time and now they are on trend with people wearing them over their leggings or gym wear or streetwear. now these very same Americans wouldn't look that out of place on the high streets of the UK. Truly, humans are a remarkably fickle species.
