Yeah this movie was good. It sad that our black people are going thru this in real life. A must 👀 film. The cop who killed his son has a played a piece of 💩💩 👮 three times now first in the Netflix show 7 seconds where he killed a black kid riding his 🚲 then in black and blue with Tyrese he played a dirty cop who shot the main character now this.

Parker took an L on American Skin to be honest because he doesn't allow the character he played to finish what had to be done. He shouldn't have made it an emotional feel food ending for the mainstream with both the Dad and the son dead and the cops walking out alive but morally challenged. The film would have been more powerful if we were left with the sociohistorical crisis that would have ensued had the father followed through with his original plan of 'an eye for an eye'. Parker still did his thing though, but he fumbled in in the endzone just like he did with Birth of a Nation when he tried to launder the human revolt against slavery into a patriotic Americana apple pie moment. Malcolm X would not have endorsed this movie, neither would the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. Parker doesn't go all the way in, aint no such thing as a halfway revolutionary. Still a must see film, but it has no replay value because of the wack ending.

Just to let y'all know, American Skin has NOT been released here in Japan (non-military). I tried Google Play, Amazon, and Vudu. And they like nah bruh, not in yo location.

Same happened with Black Panther at the movie theaters all over Asia as well.

And that has a direct effect on world-wide first week sales numbers, and thus ratings as well. (They seem to be lyin' about the numbers here.)

We really need get on these movie ditributors and promoters about the way they're handling Afro movies internationally.

We might wanna add that into the Contract with Black America at the very least...

I liked the film, but would have welcomed an alternative ending. Especially as it pertains to military black men seeking Justice for their community. We've seen several instances of lone wolf Black military men going to battle with the police department over the injustices done to Black people.

Maybe one day we will see a movie from their unique perspective. But still a good movie!!!

Grateful Mr Parker took this dilemma head on & allowed for discussions brought to the forefront. We can only grow & move forward by getting comfortable w/uncomfortable discussions. Bravo Mr. Parker & Spike Lee!! Must See!!!

He whitewashed the Nat Turner story...
...and now he whitewashed the present day black experience with white racism and police brutality.

American Skin is basically Nate giving racist cops a platform to megaphone their racist platitudes. It’s centered around a round table where the white cop, the black cop and Spanish cop all align against the black man. In the end, the black man is getting shot BEFORE, DURING and AFTER this round table. In the end, not a single cop pays the just price...the only people who got shot in this movie were BLACK MEN.

Nate Parker isn’t making movies for us...he’s simply placating to his white friends.

Even in a fictional reality, Nate can’t bring himself to be comfortable with the justice that these racist cops deserve.

This movie was a dis-serve to the melanated people. All he did was brought up conversation that we all have everyday and the ending ended the same way melanated people murdered. What was the purpose of this movie? It had no solutions. It got melanated people all emotional. The only part of this movie that made any sense was the son's dialog about the treatment of melanated people. It depicted melanated men as being weak and passive. It was a big disappointment to melanated people even if they don't recognize it. It was hyped up with a weak as ending, seriously. This is just another slave mentality movie in todays time. The Caucasoid, Neanderthal, Troglodyte still wins in the end. Only weak mind melanated people saw this as a good movie. No critical thinking skills at all. How can Nate be objective when he's married to someone that looks like the murders of melanated people? It that the reason he was not able to kill the race Soldier that murdered his movie son? When is Nate going to make a movie that has solutions to this issue?

American Skin is real life for us in America, these things happen to us cause we have turned our back on our God laws statues and commandments. God told us these things will happen to us for disobedience.
