So the 10th Mountain isn't anywhere near any mountains in Watertown, NY, and you don't have to pass any sort of mountain warfare training to get into the unit? How does that make any sense? How often do you guys go to the US Army Summer and Winter Mountain Warfare Courses?

The 10th Mountain should return, with all three brigades, to Colorado to take the place of 4th ID. Have 4th ID replace them at Fort Drum, with the 3rd Brigade at Fort Polk, and bring back the 4th IBCT of the 10th Mountain and put them in Alaska to replace the 4ABCT, 25th Id. Then, move the Mountain Warfare School from Vermont to Colorado and co-locate it with 10th Mountain. That way you guys would be in an environment with mountains all year round and in close vicinity of your unit to save money for other things, as well as being next to 10th SFG. No more having to go out of state to get the training your unit is supposed to specialize in. It's just odd the way the Army does things...

Little known FACT: The 1st BCT 1st Battalion 87th Infantry was the first to have 0 KIAs during the 05-06 year long deployment to Baghdad, Iraq. It's sad the the 10th Mountain Division overlooks this important part of its history.

The greatest thing about the 10th today is the rate of which you deploy. In an army today full of slick sleeves, damn near everyone I’ve met from the 10th has been combat deployed and have been great soldiers
