Why are people acting like Tekken is doomed? Just because Bandai canceled no name games doesn’t mean Tekken’s future is done for, it’s the only franchise keeping Bandai relevant (and Dragon Ball)

I don't know anything about a Chinese player and Idc about the stage I bought it. I quit playing because 90% of the mathcups were mirrors for Heihachi and im playibg against players who are Tekken Gods while im nowhere near that rank. Im punished for having a high prowess because I play with so fsr 12 characters. After a week I just un-installed it. I'll come back when the next character drops

The situation Tekken is in, is purely based on the desire to make more money than the core fanbase could generate for them, so they nuked almost all of the core tenets of Tekken (Pure strike-fighter, defensive focused, tight player to player interactions). It made them a buttload of money, but cost them a reputation that for 30 years, was practically unblemished. Tekken 8 is a mirror to Bandai Namco as a company. Decent fighting game, horrible Tekken game, big company, horrible establishment.

The game is Unknown 9, it's like Forspoken from Squere Enix. Woke game made no profit

Even though its unconfirmed, I feel like they quietly canceled the next Ridge Racer game. A RR game would come out at the launch of a console. If it came out for Switch, they would have seen major profits. Sad.

Honestly I think it’s just like that in all aspects of work at the moment. Companies are losing a lot of money beacause of war, the economy crashing, consumer demand and consumption of content being way higher and investors having second thoughts.

Games like fifa, call of duty also have a huge problem but the difference is that their online shops for dlc/skins etc is doing really well and that’s what Bandai have realised they need to do.

The FGC need to realise that its community is already small and that in general fighting games aren’t that popular in comparison to others categories, so either be more accepting to monetisation or realise that there’s more bad news on the way. Tekken will do just fine in the coming years, their advertising strategy just need to be better, making sure their games appear more often on platforms like TikTok etc via celebrities etc.


The companies that are doing really well are companies who either have allot of purchasable content coming in or single player games who put tons of time into very few games (god of war, wukong, gta etc) that take years to come out.

Dude to think SoulCalibur VII being dead totally sucks ass. Even though I’ve only played a few of the games (Broken Destiny, V, and VI) I was really hoping for 7 to be out sometime. That’s terrible if it’s cancelled.

I belive that tekken 8 base was developed for tekken VS SF but due to some reason they have not developed it or it is going out of budget, so they have planned it to release

I've already completely had it with games. They ask me not to care, but I'm expected to tolerate all this crap? Not to mention the politics. The POLITICS! I've already purchased Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 already, but I've just about had it with these games as well. Both games have avatar creators and neither will willingly label male and female as a selection. Its just "Body Type A or B" or whatever. I have to CONCEDE with these games to adopt a false worldview in order to engage with them and I'm just done doing that. Its insane. The new Monster Hunter is about to do the same thing as well and I'm not getting that either. Enough is enough with this shit.

I'm through with the constant propaganda, the constant LGBT content being shoved in my face, the constant emasculation of men in these products, and that's on top of the fact games are more expensive than ever before and we still are getting nickeled and dimed more and more after nearly a hundred dollar purchases of the games initially. We pay these people more to cheat us with less and less content and I'm just done with it. The golden age of gaming has passed for well over a decade as of now and I see no reason to keep up with it anymore. I've been riding on it too long already. It just isn't worth it anymore.

Soulcalibur VI revived the Soul Series back in 2018 and it did great. But by 2020, Soulcalibur is completely dead with Okubo's departure.

Let's just hope and pray Tekken 8 doesn't go down that route.

It's a shame. Soul Caliber was awesome. The last one was nearly unplayable. I hope Tekken never dies. But nothing lasts forever.

Soulcalibur is for a casual audience, and if they don't play into the stupid ass Esports angle of the game it could do great, they just have to make a fun game that normal people would like to play. Tekken 8 fails in this regard, its betting it all on its success in esports.

I don't really want Tekken 8 to go end so quickly. It's not even a year and this is looking awful.

This BS is like 2015 Konami level of evil and desperation. Thankfully Konami has been improved significantly in recent years, but it seems that Bamco has now become the new Japanese company of evil. At this point it's not just about Tekken or fighting games, it is much, MUCH bigger. And now Bamco have to go an INSANELY long road to fix their reputation, just like Konami did.

The company is trying to outcome thier loss from thier successful games including Tekken that's why they are adding fight pass and other custome trash.
Don't oppress the developers like complete idiots please, instead support the Game its the best Tekken so far.

Hmmm... Lay offs left and right. Riot just finished their second wave of mass lay offs in this year alone and no Bandai is forcing their employee to resign. But according to Forbes gaming industry is at it's record high estimated to reach $300 billion dollar by 2027. There must something very wrong in the industry. The math is not mathing

Bamco is not a good company. It's not a secret. I heard from a lot of people working there isn't good. So yeah, not surprising they act this way.

Hopefully it includes Harada and Murray. Those two need to go.

You should not comment on the whole company culture thing unless you know a lot about it. It's a bad experience "to do nothing" in japan. So you find arrangements to leave rather than get fired, getting fired in japan is like being fired for every job forever.

It's a great company, because this company pays a lot on development if the game is successful.
Tekken 7 sold 10 m copies and it's a reshade not even a reskin of the Tekken Tag 2 from 2011 look it up.
That's why Tekken 8 is so advanced in graphics mechanics and other features.
But if the game doesnt sell well or thier audience are lame like most of the Tekken players, the company will make decisions to cut thier losses like trying adding more content which is for me great, cut the high cost development process or cancel the game, and this is in any exting company.
Any company in the world make decisions based on the results not actions.
Bad reviews = bad results, decisions.
Whats worse is even after fixing some issues the players didn't change the feedback.

In Tekken 7, when you bought Geese, Noctis or Negan, you got the character AND a stage. In Tekken 8, you ONLY get the character. ($7.99 for both game DLCs btw)
