I grew up in a commune/community/weird shit outside Taos New Mexico called Three Peaks, 36.43450992071398, -105.75559889169402, specifically (my dad sold the place). We had two solar panels hooked up to three car batteries with an inverter, we basically got two hours of power, (that is, two hours of a compaq laptop) every two days.

It's not great, but if you don't have water or power, it's definitely better than nothing.

Anyway, I didn't get any crazy diseases from it.
