Great video! Really helped me with a research/experimenting with music project I'm doing for school. My plan is to make a Gamelan version of Everything in its right place by Radiohead :)) All the animations, midi representations, layering really made it easy to understand and engaging.

I fell in love with this music especially after playing in an ensemble under Pak Nyoman Wenten and this video has helped me flesh out my knowledge of the terminology a lot!

This is mindblowing. I've loved gamelan music since I first heard it as a kid in Bali. More recently I was watching videos and thought "they can't be playing all of those notes with one mallet, so they must have to syncopate and play them separately", and this video confirmed that with the section on interlocking patterns. It looks really really difficult! Especially the sangsih part, that must take a lot of practice, jeeeez. Thanks for the informative video.

I am incredibly delighted with Gamelan. It is the best example of how to get closer to nature through mathematics. Absolutely incredible music.

this music is just so amazing and deeply spiritual for me. After few days arriving to Bali, Ubud, there happened to be a ceremony at a river temple behind my house. I was totally enchanted by the music. So hypnotic, so otherworldly.
