I just look for the specific make and model on RV Trader. That tells me the MARKET RATE as opposed to the dealer rates. A camping world about an hour away from me has the exact make and model I want, but listed at about $20k more than what else is available around the country.

I did go to them to tour that model with my family to make sure it would work for us but the one that I'm likely to buy is 12hrs away. I knew I wasn't going to buy from them and did give the salesman $100 cash as I know he gets paid by commission and did take an hour of his time.

They have tried to follow up however they're so far off the market price, they really don't have a chance. All that to say, RV Trader is the better way to determine what people are selling and buying specific makes and models for.

CW is infamously legendary for their aggressive and obnoxious sales practices. So sorry that you had this experience. An evaluation tool should be just that, not a means to obtain peoples contact info. I have started down that road with other similar on-line tools to obtain values, up to the point where they want personal info, at which time I check out of that page!

We went to Camping world in St Aug last year and the salesman showed us a few trailers then when we went back inside, the salesman tried to get us to sign a contract saying we will buy one. I refused to sign and told him we were just beginning to look and we weren't buying today. He said very sarcastically that he never heard that before. Then he said he wanted us to meet his manager. I told him I didn't want to meet him. he ran out of the room to get him, we were feeling way too pressured about this and decided to leave immediately. The receptionist tried to intercept us and shoved some business cards into my wife's hands as we left the building. I took the cards from her and dropped them. We pretty much ran to the car and as we drove away, no kidding, the salesman ran out the door screaming for us to come back. That guy called and called for weeks even after I told him to stop calling. There's no way I would ever set foot on one of their lots again. that was the most terrible salesman experience we ever had.

as a former telemarketer, you usually have to use the magic words: "Take me off your COMPANY WIDE call list." This means you are requesting that they remove you from ALL branches and any subsidiaries call lists.

Well the real shame in this is you were never really talking to a Camping World Employee. That call is being generated by a robo system that routes you to a person actually in who knows where. But if you continued he/she would have then made an appointment with the CW store and when you got there a sales agent would have put you through some real BS.

They start with one price for the unit, but then they add more BS that according to them needs to be there, making the sale price 20% higher than what you offered. In the car business one of the items is called "the pack". This is just profit that the dealer doesn't pay the sales person on in their commision structure. Happens everyday in car store as well.

These guys make the old used car guy with white belt and white shoes look like a rookie. Pure slime. I guess if this is the way he wants it that shows what he is.

Sadly, we purchased a trailer from Camping World and we'll never use them again. Even after all was said and done and we had the trailer in our driveway, for three weeks after they kept calling us wanting information that we had aleady provided to them at the time of purchase. The whole thing just left us with a bad experience.

Sadly, requests to be placed on a "DNC" (Do Not Call) list - it can take up to 30 days for it to take effect.
Annoying, but having worked in a Sales/Pre-Sales environment, I am familiar with the procedures.

FYI..Once you have told a solicitor not to call or text you, make note of that date and time you told them. And any calls they make afterwards, do not answer, BUT DO record. Going to small claims court you can sue for approx. $1200-$1500 for each call. This is harassment and it is against the law.

Camping World??? Why am I not surprised.
A little trick I use on the online stuff where I don’t want phone call. I give my email address and I use my old home phone number or I use a business number that I know has a recording.
I.E. Walgreens, CVS, Walmart. Those companies all have a recorded message to select the department you want to reach. So when the online company try’s to call me, well you know what happens now. 😂😂
Sorry, not sorry.
I rarely ever give out my cell number unless I truly want to get a call.

I used the NADA (now JD Power) website when I was looking for my RV 3 years ago. At the time, most campers were WAY over priced because of the pandemic. I had also been looking on Facebook Marketplace and other online sites and knew what was happening with the market. Because of my research, I knew the seller of the camper I got was actually underpriced and I was able to get a good buy. Best tip, be patient! Don't think you have to buy the first thing you see because it is almost what you want.

Camping World is the worst. When we began shopping for our first RV, my husband made it clear that I was the one in charge with the finances and I had clear input in our wants and needs. Well, the salesperson proceeded to direct all questions and information to my husband and never once spoke to me. He then called my phone daily leaving voicemails on MY phone and addressing my husband in every message. My husband thought he was great because he was treated with respect but I felt like a 2nd class citizen and will refuse to give them any business

Boy for someone who has been using RV's for awhile, I have to say you are still a gullible newbie. I mean, the initial 'click' that you made on the "valuator" said "a part of CW". That was your cue to NOT enter your info. Have you ever heard of NADA or it's replacement J D Powers, anyone can go online to that website to find a basic value on a car, truck, RV, trailer, boat, ATV and so on......in addition to looking at RV Trader for what others are asking for a like unit. Value is NOT an exact science, just do the RIGHT homework.

We're brand new and we got talked out of a class c by some friends bc of hooking up then unhooking, move all your gear etc and how its easier to get a tt and have our truck for going to visit places. Do those class c tow a good size vehicle, i was told no? But you've been doing this so long and i love your videos, so I'm thinking you completely know what you're doing. We pick up our new to us camper this weekend. We did take the 5 hour drive, have an rv inspector look it over and approve it and now we're making the drive again to bring it home. I've never camped in my life so I'm excited, and esp at the fact that we bought used since we have no idea how it all will go. Ha. But your videos inspire me and make me think i can do this! 😃

I found solace in your frustration with Good Sam and Camping World as I inquired about extended warranty insurance. They wouldn't leave me alone. It took weeks to get off their call list. The same thing happened when I wanted to buy a used car through CARFAX. The women were the worst. I actually bought the car (the one I wanted) from a nice guy who talked to me once. We actually WENT to a Camping World the beginning of 2023 because we saw a unit online that we were interested in. When we got there, they took all our information before seeing the unit. It turned out that the inside didn't look anything like the pictures, however we were just in the beginning of our RV search and we were upfront and told them that we were in NO RUSH to buy and that we were going to take our time buying what we wanted. LOL, well they blew my husband's phone up to the point that he ended up blocking numbers and not answering it. We found what we wanted at a dealership in PA and bought what we decided would work for us. My husband unblocked the number and whatya know? The phone rang within the hour! So they were still trying when the phone was blocked! He told them we had purchased what we wanted and at that point we required nothing more. Camping World was pretty much relentless! I know we will never deal with them again! Sorry you went through this.....because I feel that what you went through is really underhanded.

3 tips: #1: never give out your real email address. Get a temporary email address online, which is never connected to your real email. Like "temp mail" is one such site. Free. Easy. #2: never give out your real phone number or full name when seeking info online. #3: block any number that calls you more than 1 time. I use Google Voice as my phone number and with that tool (free) I set it up, so only people in my contact list can ring through to me. I can block any number altogether so they get a disconnect message, or I mark a call as spam so it always goes to voicemail and never rings through, unless I add that number to my contact list.
