Great video, thank you very much.
ОтветитьVery helpful information here. Thanks for posting!
ОтветитьYou haven't got a clue what you're talking about. Let AF points work; They are there for a reason? Spot AF is to be used in very rear occasions, this is not a DSLR. Those days are over.
ОтветитьI have had this camera now for over a month an on really disappointed in the sharpness I'm using it for mostly landscape photography but the images compares to the 5Dmk4 are disappointing to be honest
ОтветитьAll of them to be fair
ОтветитьThanks this helps alot, I'll get mine next week. 😊
ОтветитьI'm trying to understand the "retract lens on power off" thing. Does the RF 35mm F1.8 extend automatically? I have an EF 24-70 that extends manually for zoom (also an EF 70-200). Will this lens be ok if I disable "retract lens on power off"? I'm guessing it's different because it dows not extend to focus, only to zoom, whereas the RF 35mm doesn't zoom. Great video, thanks!
ОтветитьJan, you just might be the best overall "how to" vlogger!. This vid is clear, well paced, and informative.
ОтветитьExcellent! Easily the best video for Canon EOS R6 II settings for birding and wildlife.
ОтветитьExcellent video. While reading the manual is always helpful, having a video with detail settings and rationale really helps me make informed decisions on the settings that are right for me. Thanks very much.
ОтветитьHi Jan,
I have been working with the Canon R6 mark 2 for almost a year now and have used almost all the settings according to your video. This also applies to the back-button focus. Never had any problems until recently. Recently, however, I noticed that my focus point moved while pressing the shutter button. This occurs in both H and H+ and both electronic and electrical 1 grd. When you look back at the photos you see the square of the AF spot shift to the right without the camera (or me) moving... Because I thought there was a malfunction, the camera was sent to the repair service of Canon "Tech Repair" via the supplier. I received the following, in my opinion strange conclusion. If I understand them correctly, back-button focus is the cause of the problem 😱??? What is your opinion about this? Thank you in advance. Below is the answer from Canon Repair
The mentioned complaint its related to a
setting, the camera its set to focus
through the AF-ON button and this button
its also set to detect objects. In order to avoid the focus to shift from the desired point, this button should be set to Metering and AF start
The camera works according to
specifications.
EOS R6 MKII
Great video, I definietely will come back to - thank you for sharing the settings, thats how I learn best when I can see various settings in comparison to what I am using myself. LOVE bird photography so this is very helpful!!!
ОтветитьI'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this camera - this video seems invaluable for setting it up to do bird photography and especially BIF. Great job, Jan!
ОтветитьVery clear video. Just switched from Nikon to Canon and always used back button focus. This video helped me a lot to get my my settings right... Thank you!!!
ОтветитьGreat video man!
Ответитьgood job
ОтветитьThank you very much. You are one of the best at this type of instruction.
ОтветитьThis is a video I needed. My whole life I had ancient cameras. Which I loved and proved it is not about the gear. Cost a lot of sweat and postprocessing to show that old cameras with a prime are more than competitive.
20D, 30D and last 10 years 5D Classic (2005 manufacture date).
Two days ago I picked up R6ii and holy moly. Milions of features which do the job for you. Literally. 5Dc could only point with one cross type middle focus point and then you recomposed the frame. Slow fps. Limited DR etc.
Now I feel like in startrek 😅
Thanks for a great video helping me better understand the best settings for this magic camera.
ОтветитьJan, I have had my R6 II for six months and never really bothered with a deep dive into the menu system. This was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьYour videos for my R6MK2 and the R7 were excellent for both Bird and Sports action photography. But the best feature was the setup PDF guides allowing me to setup the cameras without going all thre the videos each time … the setup guides were well worth the small amount of money …. Well done
ОтветитьWhere can I get info about joint your group ….
ОтветитьI'm trying to figure out why I have everything copied perfectly, yet it still selects subject even when I am trying to spot focus
ОтветитьDoes nobody manually focus their camera anymore? This was a very helpful video as I just bought this camera
ОтветитьThanks!! verry helpfull!!
ОтветитьOverwhelming
ОтветитьI just can't get used to back focus button. I have made several attempts at doing that. But it's just not my thing. So, given that, how can I set it up so I have the eye detection and manual focus when not pressed?
ОтветитьThanks for the guide! Why do you now like 4k 50fps?
ОтветитьExcellent setup. Even when I change it, at least I understand why. I am coming from the Nikon menu system, so this was rather different. I call Nikon a "side-menu" and the Canon a "top-menu." I wish they had a way to save the settings to a card.
ОтветитьVery grateful for your thorough screen-by-screen settings review. I was having serious trouble understanding the adapting the new focus features. I 'm been accosted to simple siingle-point focusing with my 5D Mark 2s.
ОтветитьThank you for the best instructional video I have ever seen! I only take photos/videos of my Macaw parrot family, both outdoors and indoors. I have used a Canon 1Dx Mark 2 since 2016, and with the new eye tracking function and 4K video abilities, it is time to move up to either an R3 or an R6 Mark 2. I just rented an R6 Mark 2 and it should arrive in 2 days, so this video will be a lifesaver! Thank you very much!
ОтветитьThis is a highly useful guide and I am going to make some changes. I have been having a great deal of difficulty since acquiring the R6ii and 100-500 Canon lens, specifically with birds in flight and even aircraft at air shows. I am either unable to grab focus or constantly losing it. I previously had a 7Dii w/ Canon 100-400ii, and I had none of these issues. It’s been so aggravating that I am concerned I made a big mistake moving to mirrorless. Any additional assistance is appreciated.
ОтветитьI decided to rent a Canon R6 Mark 2 and it arrived today. After using your settings, I am simply amazed at the quality of photos taken of my Macaw family. I ordered an Canon R3 yesterday, so by the time it arrives on Monday, setting it up should be very easy. Thank you for all the help and coaching my friend!
ОтветитьI found this video extremely helpful. How might you change these settings when shooting stills of sports? Ie. if subjects were wearing helmets making eye detection more difficult.
Ответитьexlent settings
ОтветитьSetting up my new R6M2 today -- my first mirrorless -- using your settings. Great video overall; thanks especially for explaining dual back-button focusing two and three times as you progress through the menus. Question about IS modes on the Canon 100-400 EF L ii lens, which I'll be using with dual back-button focusing as you suggest, with the R6M2 and EF-to-RF adapter: Which lens IS mode is best for hummingbirds moving erratically -- 2 or 3?
Ответитьsir what is video system in india NTSC or PAL
ОтветитьNot good video
ОтветитьYou’re a fuckin King. Thanks. Love from Mexico 🇲🇽
ОтветитьThanks to this video, I finally learned how to enable the histogram while shooting with the R5C.
I guess two years later is better than never.
Hi mate I have just set myR62 up like you have how does it work when there is more than one brids in flight
ОтветитьI didn’t think the color space matters in raw either? Or is it more of a metadata thing, so it tells Lightroom what space you want to be in, rather than actually affecting the actual colors recorded?
ОтветитьWhat a perfect video. Thank you very much for the lesson. I learned a lot. A hug from Brazil to you.
ОтветитьI will receive my R6ii tomorrow and I will use your video to set it up. Thank you for making this video!
ОтветитьHi. I've just got the r6II and I noticed that tracking is not working with any lens if I don't activate the "Preview AF" in the menu n.3 of AF section
ОтветитьThank you Jan !
ОтветитьHow do you get the 2 audio levels to show on video mode?
ОтветитьJan, thank you so much for this extremely helpful video. I am confident that I'd now be able to get the best out of my R6ii right from the start!
ОтветитьJust received my R6 m2. Your explanation was clear and concise. ( I did follow the transcript during your video and paused to catch up). This had to have been my easiest set up of a new camera. Kudos. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
ОтветитьOnly just bought the R6m2, (coming from a Fujifilm X-T5, and it is REALLY quite different!) so I very much appreciate this video as there are not many videos about the R6m2 to do with setting up for bird/wildlife shooting. I shall have to watch it again as it's a lot to take in.
