Why Fujifilm Discontinued Their Best Compact Camera

I never knew this camera existed but the renewed interest in these older cameras made me buy new batteries for my dead Panasonic LX-3 😅

The biggest weakness of the X10,20, and 30 however, is it's manual zoom lens that overtime the attaching power control ribbon wears out or detaches. This happened to my X20 that got the dreaded 'lens control error' after taking a tumble.

While I do prefer manual zoom, for a small travel compact, I have to say the older Lumix LX100 (versions I and II) or their Leica D-Lux versions are definitely worth a look even with their power zoom. I can even see an argument for the new Leica D-Lux 8 that uses many of the same internals, but has an updated EVF, screen, ports, interface and body. While some criticized the high-cost of the low model production D-Lux 8, it was still nice to see Leica carrying this torch for this niche of travel cam.

Myself, while I'd love an X30, I have an X-E3 as a secondary. It is a pretty light and coupled with a light lens (ie. XF35 F2) isn't much heavier than the X30.

As a very happy owner of the X100 VI with it's super useful focal length and 40MP allows for digital cropping, it is almost the perfect camera.... However, if a version was released with a small zoom lens, it would be great.

I feel mechanically it is impossible to make the camera and lens small and have a fast aperture zoom lens, if a camera was made with an F/2.8 - 4 it may be possible to make it a similar size as the 15-45 F/3.5 - 5.6 kit lens fuji ships with its "entry level" cameras

Yes, an X100VI with that nifty little X30 lens. I wouldn't hesitate. But they'd have to fix the ridiculous supply situation!

Petr, completely agree with your assessment of this camera and the expanding popularity of this class of cameras. On my first trip to France years back i took my only camera, a Canon Powershot, and had a blast using that light decent photo tool.

I love my X30 - it's the one camera I will never let go of.
