All our civilization has done, is made things faster to do, and easier to achieve, by using the same methods as 1000's of years ago, but with new materials that we have acquired, by continuing to harvest materials from the earth.... over and over again... never have we "invented" a new way of doing anything... leverage is leverage, crane or no crane...

Good video as usual!

It is 4am right now and I snuck into the kitchen and stole a piece of pie. It was so quiet everything I did was super loud. But it was worth it! I'll get in trouble when they wake up in the morning. It's ok I'm just not supposed to eat that because I'm diabetic. But I'll live. And it was worth it because I never do that kinda thing and it was the best pie 🥧 in the world! Sorry this has nothing to do with the video😬 I love your channel. Excellent as always!

Another great video! Just a small note, those are simple pulley systems. Compound pulley systems are those when you use a pulley in order to pull on another pulley, while simple pulley systems are the block and tackle ones. Smarter Every Day has a video showing both examples.

compound systems based on physics and mechanical advantage, brilliant and effective ! an age when engineering and preparation came together systematically and made the special day of the lift seem routine. I can hear the LAHTs singing now lamenting by way of a downtrodden Irish pub song

some of these so called "facts" are making people more dumb. we still haven't learn how to question things we are told to believe, and everybody just goes "yeah that's fine ! yup ! that's how it WAS ! got it ! cheers ! what's next to agree to."
who build those massive support stands from massive trees looks like ? where did those massive pieces of wood come from to support all this?
what is the purpose of these massive columns away? i suppose someone with a massive ego needed to do that and nobody asked why ?
humanity is doomed if we continue this way guys.
i appreciate your work but you only asking questions halfway brother.

You are a real boy. My response to those who say that the cutting of the stone and moving of it is impossible was that people back then were smart but the reason why we don't find the tools or mechanisms that they used was because they were probably a part of some guild trade secret that is highly protected and passed down by word of mouth from master to apprentice. But I had never heard of these obelisks and stones being moved in the 1700's with drawwings. Thank you very much

I like the Thunderstone. I'm sure that they also had to flip the Thunderstone onto its side to make it easier to move. In that 9 months they made the road by clearing the trees and built the jetties for the boats etc so it was 9 months to build the infrastructure and move the stone. The road wasn't straight as it was contoured so they also had to manoeuvre the stone round curves and bends.

However, just because I want some mystery and excitement doesn’t mean it’s true. I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to clearly show that their full of shit. I’ll pass this on to anyone trying to move their car by chanting

Even today we would use the same system to make such a move without modern machinery. Maybe better ball bearings and rails and ropes but basically the same system.
Moving this stone is actually used to show what it takes to move such a heavy weighty (and the frozen ground) to make a point about other heavy stones some 2000 or 4000 years ago.
I never heard anybody talk about ancient high technology about moving this stone.

From: Plans et détails du monument consacré à la mémoire de l'empereur Alexandre ouvrage dédié a sa majesté l'empereur Nicolas 1er

"The mass that had to be extracted to obtain the shaft of the column was 100 feet long and had an average thickness of 22 feet. Its weight could be estimated at 9,560,000 pounds."

you ARE aware that even according to hidebound egyptologists, there were no wheels or capstans or any but the most basic forms of "rope" in the whole of the egyptian dynasties? There are remnants of statutes which stood upright! and are modestly calculated to have weighed 1,000 tons, sculptured with millimetric precision. Single monolithic stones on the jupiter temple in turkey that had been brought from distance WITHOUT apparently using any power other than brute force and weighing in at an estimated 900 toover 1,000 tons - exquisitely carved and fluted columns (obelisks if you will) which by their broken remains are taller than the russian piece and in harder stone are also found in a site in egypt. This author should have done a LOT more research!
