This is good info, thanks for sharing!

Do many ppl in DCM go to private equity - with the debt capacity analysis, acquisition finance + merger modelling etc, it seems very aligned to what DCM bankers do already?

From what I read I see mostly those in an M&A group tend to focus on private equity / the exit opps

Can I get into investment banking with just a business degree but not finance? So for example first an internship and then move forward? Do they accept just business degrees with not finance modules? Thank you

Belid 123, asked a good question and mine is very similar. I have a business degree in accounting from a non traditional school. How could I get into investment banking? Even if it was with an internship first. I just thought it was harder because they recruit younger individuals versus someone older

I joined a BB a few months back as an experienced analyst but have not seen any email communication from PE recruiters (only for other IB roles) that you mentioned in your video. Do these recruiters typically only target those who are right out of school or would it take more time for them to reach out?

Maybe you want to tell your audience about the following? The insane stress of missing one small detail and causing a deal to fall apart, the dread of defending another deal to the IC, the politics, preparing agendas, taking notes, getting that intralinks notification that the data room just opened at 7pm on a saturday, staying up until 4am creating models 10x more complex than could be possibly necessary, working 100 hours a week for weeks on end with no acknowledgement, competing with a bunch of type A sycophantic humorless freaks for brownie points, completely thankless, soulless work, wasting the best years of your life enriching people wealthier than you ever will be given the glory days of this industry are a decade plus behind us.  Oh the "prestige" of being a private equity financier 😆

Once you’re in the space how hard is it and how stressful is this type of work? I’m a 19yr old majoring in finance and I took some interest in the private equity space along with VC and I’m curious on the type of work you do, the hours, etc.

Hi Angela, thank you so much for this informative video. I was wondering if one just does the Investment Banking course from Financial Edge, can it prepare them a private equity role. I have seen that the course modules for the IB course and the private equity associate micro degree are sort of similar

Hi again, I watched your other video on investment banking video and I commented on it there and you replied back. Are you working in investment banking or private equity? I know you recommend Financial Edge for learning about investment banking and private equity, but are these courses enough to get an entry-level job in either profession? You also have a link for financial courses from Wall Street Prep, which are less expensive than Financial Edge, can the Wall Street Prep Private Course get you an entry-level job in either profession as well?
