One of best carrot cakes I ever made looked way worse than your tipped-over one! I ran out of time and had to ice it before it was cool enough and it was a summer day— it absolutely melted all over the place and looked awful. But it was also extremely delicious— your sweet gesture is surely appreciated by your friend along with the cake itself! It’s all going to get digested anyway, right?

The guy who shoved you on the sidewalk was rude. But your baking a cake for your friend was thoughtful, sweet and a great thing to do. And from the looks of it the cake was still edible. The most important thing was you celebrated your friends birthday and her submitting her thesis for her doctorate. I also bake cakes a lot for my friends' birthdays, and have dealt with a few jerks ( both people and vehicles lol )
In the end, though I'm extremely pissed, they always appreciate the cake and that makes the effort worth it :)
