Anyone with common sense would realize that the make model and serial number of a gun are not required to get accurate results on a background check. Make model and serial number of the gun I wish to purchase will not change or affect the results of my background check in any way shape or form.

CT has had a gun registry for many decades now. The state police get a copy of the purchase, and the local police where you live. Total violation of federal law!

If you have guns pre-permit, apply for the permit, & subsequently fail. Is the state going to show-up at your residence & tell you to turn in your pre-permit guns?

Require destruction of any and all information of buyers or seller of any firearms and the firearm information itself after a period of say 10-20 years. Anyone Federal, State or local that keep any type of information after the period of time is subject to a violation of such statute. Penalty for anyone with knowledge of such records will be charged with a felony and minimum penalty of 10 years with a maximum of 40 years.

Has any such registration of any state been successfully repealed? Illinois has it, and I just read a post here about Connecticut having one. Then there is California with there existing one, and Oregon about to implement one.

The wonderful thing about it is you can buy any make and model Firearm you want if you have the money. They're not not stolen Firearms, purchased and sold slightly higher than normally. Several people I know don't mind paying that extra for an (UNKNOWN FIREARM).

In 2013, then Governor Andrew Cuomo, of N.Y. enacted his " Safe Act " his Grand Act to stop gun crimes. Part of this Act was an expansion of the list of " Assault Weapons " that could no longer be purchased/sold, etc. in New York State. This included weapons that a large number of New York residences owned and had owned for years. The Governor did not want to order these residents to be forced to turn in the weapons or confiscate them (since the State would then have to reimburse the owners for their value). Instead The Governor stated that they could keep their " Assault Weapon " but would have to register them with the N.Y. State Police ( NYSP ). The Governor estimated that there was about 2 million such weapons in New York State. He gave the residence one year to do so. Three years later, the press asked the State Police how many weapons were registered with the NYSP. The NYSP would at first not answer this question. After filing a Freedom of Information Request and getting a Court Order, the NYSP reported that some 48,000 weapons were registered with them. About 2 % of all the Assault Weapons they (The Governor) believed were in N.Y. I believe that a lot of New York owners did not do this because they believed that at some future date this List/ Registration would be used to confiscate their weapons.

It will be interesting how this, red flag laws, and Trumps police powers and immunity executive order will all play out... real id, project stargate, flock cameras, warrantless biometric real time facial tracking by LOCAL law enforcement, etc...

I just read AmmoLand News' article. There are a few errors in the article.
1. NICS data is NOT supposed to be deleted within 24 hours. All buyer PII drops off after NICS query is proceeded, and it has nothing to do with 24 hours. All that remains is NTN, query, response and retrieval date and exact times.
2. The Brady Bill (implemented in 1998) will only hold the last 60 days of NTN activity (IF DENIED IT WILL KEEP ALL INFORMATION), (IF PROCEEDED IT WILL DROP ALL PII WITHIN 24 HOURS).
3. ALL DATA EXCEPT FOR DENIED NTNs will be COMPLETELY PURGED FROM NICS on "88TH DAY PURGE" PER BRADY BILL.

Whomever was abusing the system needs to be held accountable. Why would there need to be a policy change when the rules clearly state what is supposed to be happening? The problem isn't the policy, it is the people that are entrusted to not abuse the system.

Ask yourself this: If the system is being abused, wouldn't executive management be aware of it?

Look at who the government is ARMING not just disarming. Many of the weapons given for free to Ukraine have been sold to the Mexican drug cartels.
