Runcam2 4K - Best onboard cam for planes

Compared to the RUNCAM 2 the RunCam 4K spreads the more pixel only over the wider angel. It is quite useless if you use the camera to follow other planes.

Andrew, did you ever manage to make this camera record longer files? I am aware Fat32 file structure limitations are about 4GB. But in Exfat there shouldn't be that limitation. Mine will only record 8 to 11 minute clips only, regardless of video format selection. It is interesting that Runcam recommends to format the SD card to Fat32. Any thoughts, findings? Hi Andrew. Enjoyed your video. Have the same issue with this cam as what you've briefly mentioned. It stops recording at about 8 minutes or just under 4gb (whichever comes first). Any idea what might be causing it? Tried different recording options, frame rates, different sd cards, formatting sd cards, updating the firmware, etc - still the same result... Thank you!

We just bought this camera and tested it today on one of our RC planes. It worked great and gave us our first 3 videos of us flying an RC plane. Really highly recommended, the runcam2 4K, we are very happy!

I was trying to decide if i should buy RunCam 2 or RunCam 2 4K, was curious if 4K cam have FOV control too, and yes you showed that it have :) but i didn't notice it in options when you were using menu on TV out instead of smartphone. So FOV option is available only in smartphone app or it's still available in TV out menu too?

How did you get the hud info on the screen. ?? Battery, speed, height etc ???😲😲😲 Is it from the fpv goggles??

Runcam hd application is discontinued !!! People don't waiste your money on any runcam products, without application your camera will be useless.

Great review and content in this video. Would there be a way to get realtime FPV stabilized video using this camera (maybe in combination with some other "component".) If not are there any small camera systems like this that do offer real time image stabilization back to the pilot. I have a Parrot Disco and their CHUCK Control unit provided beautiful stabilized images for the FPV and even included the ability to pan the image up and down and side to side without requiring a gimbal or servo of any type. Just wondering if there is another system that exists today that could be used to do something similar from a camera perspective...obviously the camera would need to be combined with a flight controller to get you CHUCK like functionality.

Format the card in exFAT instead of Fat32 so you can get continues filming beyond 4GB files.
The 4GB limit is a filesystem limit of Fat32 that exFAT doesn't have.

How is the battery life?

Hey Andrew great video. Mine arrived from Banggood out of focus for flying. I had to dismantle and twist the lens tube out 1/4 turn to get a sharp image at infinity. Original Runcam 2 had the same issue apparently - Troy's tube had a fix. It is good now I did this but I was not impressed. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem?

What camera where u wearing on ur head

I was a little bit frustrated with mine at first because the camera always stopped in flight all the time. I later on figured out that its the internal battery that loses connection due to vibration and then turn the camera off. After I started powering the camera straight from my drone battery that that problem disappeared. I like the camera because its light enough to strap it to the belly of my analog Flywoo Explorer and still capture some good video. Some examples shown on my channel.

Andrew, how do you get the camera to go into record mode using the FC. If one press of the button turns it on, and a second press of the button puts it in HD recording mode, how do you do that through the Flight Controller? I'm using a Matek F722 Wing FC. Thanks.

Floaty, yet very stable and will be my FPV plat form.

I'm able to see through my goggles with this camera and record on my goggles?

And also be able to get high-quality definition recording with the camera to the HD card inside the camera?

Good camera with one problem. THE SOUND IS AT A LOW LEVEL. WHY DON'T THEY FIX THIS? IF I WANTED THE SOUND TO BE QUIET, I WOULD TURN IT UP MYSELF.

Hi Andrew, I'm using this camera on my boats (too) and came accross the option to switch the camera from photo to video mode and switch the camera on and off remotely, using a two position switch on my transmitter. Point is, the boats run without an flight controller and FPV gear, so I have no way of knowing which mode the camera is in and if it's recording... Any thoughts on the subject? Reason I ask, is I run the boat close to the battery life of the runcam and often miss the last bit of the journey, because I ran out of juice, so being able to switch the cmera off remotely would help. Taking the boat out of the water isn't always an option, due to the high brick walls of the canals.
