If Pokemon is going to keep introducing unnecessarily hot side characters, they should take the Fire Emblem route and introduce a marriage mechanic with your child playing through the postgame. I feel like if Genealogy hadn't sold so well it would be a much much more used system in games, especially with the advent of DLC.
