I wouldnt agree with calling the lands of the Grand Duchy a Polish colony. Polonization wasn't forced, it happened because being a Polish noble granted you better status (by culture, not design) than being a boyar, so many boyars polonized.

I think if you take into consideration that there once were such groups of people as West Balts (in Prussia, parts of Pomerania and likely parts of Podlachia) and Dnieper Balts (in modern-day Belarus and neighbouring parts of Russia), who eventually got Slavicized (or sometimes Germanized, in case of West Balts) and assume that at one point they decided to form a state of their own, it might can help clear some contradictions and other issues.

Belarus never had a movement for independence, because they did not consider themselves something dissimilar to other Russians. But Polish feudal overlords didn't like Russia so they started a "Belarussian" national movement, by trying to connect the land of Belarus to Polish-Lithuanian history. They didn't really succeed, because even today most people of Belarus see themselves connected with Russians. But also didn't fail completely, because there is about 10-15% of Belarus people that hate Russia, and want to be something like Poland. These people don't like the flag of Belarus for example, but raise a flag that is version of flag of Poland.

"Lithuanian" flag is invented only in year 1917 so its not correct to use it to describe GDL (it's also incorrect by other reason that i wrote below), also using official flag of Belarus to describe belarusian states especially BPR is wrong it was created by the russian communists and don't have any relationship to belarusian history, Also belarusian white red white flag is based on traditional belarusian colours andbattle flags that were used by GDL army.

3) "Lithuania" is not GDL.
after russian empire ocupated GDL it's started rewriting history GDL and started calling samogotians as lithuanians, also full name of GDL is "Grand duchy of Lithuania, Ruthenia, Samogotia and of other lands".
GDL didn't conquered duchy of Połack, there is no evidence of any battle between GDL an duchy of Połack.
GDL first capital was Navahradak(Navahrudak) and it was populated mostly by slavs.
Vilnius vas never called like this before the 20st century, it's was called Vilna, Wilno, Vilnia but never Vilnius.
Lithuanian language couldn't be written before 19st century, and all of the GDL documents were written on Old belarusian, latin or later on polish.

4) Duchy of Połack was almost fully independent from Ruś.

Belarussian is white russians.

Belarus is such turbo-Poland: worse geography, more landlocked, closer to Russia, smaller population etc. etc. It's hard to maintain independence for Poland. It's much harder for Belarus. Nevertheless I know great future awaits Belarus. Belarus will be independent. Belarusian language and culture will flourish.

How could Lithuania conquered Belarus if it was not a nation-state in the modern sense of the word? Even if Baltic princes ruled some territory of modern-day Belarus, that does not mean this territory was annexed by force. There are no historical sources that described the conquest of Belarus by Baltic princes. From what I've seen, it is most likely the author's interpretation of history. Those who are interested can read Timothy Snyder's "Reconstruction of Nations".

First of all Ukraine also was majority orthodox. Going further there was no forced actions against Ruthenian (proto Belarusian) during P-L Commonwealth. It was the official language of Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Over time as more people learned Polish willingly as the elites of the joined state used it more often. There might have been something in the constitution of 3rd May putting Polish above Ruthenian as it was an attempt at making the country more unitarian. That being said there was forced polonization during 2nd Polish Republic.

Fun fact is prsident of Belarus acts as he was at least emperor of half world :D
