ОтветитьI am a fan of Max for his racecraft.
1. Max has a better understanding of the mechanical side of the car from his childhood, which is why you won't hear radios from his race engineer advising him on how to apply brakes and how to treat corners (like others, give a listen to their radios). This is also why I think that once GP takes his higher position at the end of the season, the transition will be smooth for whoever takes his spot. He will need to just realize what info Max needs at what time
2. Max has surprising awareness compared to the other drivers. He called the aborted start procedures, he noticed the wrong grid positions. He was confident that the track was undrivable before red flag announcement (this is something the majority of the drivers said as well though, including Norris). He called a rolling start before it even happened and many more.
3. He's in tune with his car and in his tires and knows when he can push and when not. You can notice this during the call to stay out. He only tells GP to give him info on the weather because the rest he's perfectly aware of.
4. The race itself from him was a beauty to watch. There were no sudden maneuvers, he just eased the car into all corners and all overtakes, damn perfect play with the throttle and brakes.

Both of them discussing the settings for a possible standing (re)start (after the red flag) is just briljant! So insightful!!
Ответитьdamn that start infringement is super clear. they breached the yellow light at the start. you can only go once its green. they (Norris and Russel) started the issue and made the situation at stroll and the marshalls really dangerous by warming their tires again. and they only get a slap on the wrist. you really need a british passport in F1. its like having diplomatic immunity

We have ultimate respect for everyone involved in Max's win........ and especially for GP / Max's ability to remain calm and communicate while making multiple 'car setup' changes during extremely unstable weather conditions.
goes to show how gp intuitively knows what information max needs, unlike other drivers that have to keep asking all the time. these two are the best driver-race engineer duo on the grid by far

ОтветитьYou can see how super important this relationship is between max and gp, they compliment each other, knowing each others strengths, and trusting each others judgements blindly so they can focus on what they do best: One person drives the car like a bat out of hell, and the other person makes sure its going in the right direction.
And of course in the end Max will be Max.. and he will have a little fun with lap times. and Gp will be a little scared.. but you can't be a racing driver that doesn't want to push the limit just a centimeter further than is absolutely necessary 😀
God sounds more like air traffic control to pilots! These cars tech now are like fighter aircraft, amazing how the drivers manage all this.. many thanks fascinating vid!

Ответитьi have listened to many many of this from all the teams and no other engineer sound as confident and on top of everything as GP.
everyone else is always "checking" when a driver asks something, GP is always on point with answers right away.
honestly just comparing the lap times max would have won even without the red flag

ОтветитьGp is so good. He is much more pleasant than many other race engineers I've heard on the radio. He is good at giving the necessary information without saying too much.
ОтветитьIn the beginning you can hear Jonathan Wheatley as well. So everyone is clear in the team what an aborted start is about.
