Dark and creepy is pretty much the point. It's about a vampire turning out a girl he likes... Goth punk shit. It's about manufacturing consent to allow possession, as vampires need permission because they are actually an allegory for demons. It's explaining a spiritual law concerning possession by principalities, powers of the air, so it's even darker than it seems on the surface. Bram Stoker was a dark occultist as a member of The Golden Dawn. When reading Dracula, substitute "disembodied spiritual parasite" for "vampire" and you'll get what it's really about.
