The halycon days! I was 10 at the time and thought Saints would always be that good. Went to nearly every home game that season :)
ОтветитьAll the reports today are about Rooney's goal against Man City. Sky news for nearly an hour...YAWN YAWN!!!!!!! This was better but never counted due to ref's being pro united ... Some things never change!
ОтветитьGoal would have stood if the rule of not interfering with play had been introduced. You can see why that rule is a sensible one, old skool footballers had it hard lol
ОтветитьWould've stood if we weren't playing United.
Ответить@JaakeWatts Wrong.
Ответить@Saxlicker Wrong.
ОтветитьThe guy wasn't active fucking dumb law
Ответитьfail
ОтветитьGreat seeing this clip. Brings back a very fond memory. I was only 12 at the time and in the Milton End Terrace behind the goal when it was scored. You can imagine the impression it made on me as young boy. Sad it was given offside but Saints went on to win 3-2 with the winning goal scored by... David Armstrong. One of the best matches I've ever been to.
Ответитьnope, why would it be when keegan hit the shot? no other players were involved once that happened. it had to have been when the pass was crossed, and he wasn't offside. no offsides at that moment, goal should have stood
ОтветитьWhoops! My Dad was the Linesman!! To be fair Keegan did sign my programme afterwards!
ОтветитьYou could even argue that Armstrong and Gidman are level at the precise moment Keegan's foot connects, but even that was offside pre-1992 or whenever it was, disregarding 'interfering with play'. It's a wonder any goals were scored in the 80s.
ОтветитьOfficials ruin games!!
Boo.
That was an amazing goal. Truly amazing.
Il più bel goal della storia del calcio.
ОтветитьAs a Man U fan, that goal should have stood. Great hit.
ОтветитьI was there, a travesty
ОтветитьAm a Pompey fan, but at the time, thought it one (if not the) of the best goals I've ever seen. (Did actually feel quite gutted for Keegan!).
ОтветитьJobsworth officials..even back then. Worse than traffic wardens..
ОтветитьWhat an astonishing elegant curvy shot. Look at Keegan's body tilts 180 deg elegantly while having a contact with the ball with complete synchronisation right on the exact spot to send strongly that fabulous curvey ball to the top corner, impossible for the keeper.
ОтветитьRemember seeing this at the time - amazing athleticism!
ОтветитьThat blue kit!!!
ОтветитьTypical United bias.
ОтветитьTo paraphrase an old Liverpool manager (Bill Shankly) of course you are! If you're not interfering with play, what the hell are you doing on the pitch. :-)
ОтветитьArmstrong was not interfering with play tbh ☝️🤷♂️🤦♂️
ОтветитьSpend 25 minutes in VAR these days and then allowed
Ответитьthey showed this in the Match Revisited this week. Kevin must have nightmares over that one to this day i bet.
Ответитьid love to know what keegan said to the ref as he walked past after that
ОтветитьKeegan once described this as the best goal he ever scored !
Ответитьlegendary, if only Armstrong was onside
ОтветитьWithout a doubt one of the best goals ever scored - even if it was disallowed !
ОтветитьLol the keeper would never have got near it regardless. I remember watching this at the time.
ОтветитьGençligime gittim, ulen hakem şu golün hatırına ofsayt verilmezdi...
ОтветитьI’ve always remembered this goal and never thought I would find it! Thanks for posting. Greatest goal that never was 🥲
